Description
Explore freedom of expression and dramatic-play in this fun two-day drama workshop - back by popular demand!
Suitable for new or returning students, our experienced tutor Tessa Mitchell will guide kids through the fundamental elements of storytelling, character building and performance, through movement, voice and imaginative creation.
We'll have tonnes of fun with classic acting games and exercises designed to gently encourage children's full expression of themselves. Developing confidence with the aid of puppets, favourite animal role-plays and collaboration in small groups, the young actors will create short scenes and develop YouTube video ideas together!

- To wrap up on the second day, the class will culminate in a performance parade through Corban Estate Arts Centre, giving everyone the chance strut their stuff, and take a final bow.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.
We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.
Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

Your Teacher
Tessa Mitchell has worked as a drama teacher with young children and teenagers for over 25 years. She has run holiday programs and drama workshops across Auckland. Tessa has worked with Isabel Fish Academy, Shine, Performance Net and The Performing Arts School. She currently teaches for Shine Speech and Drama and has run independant drama classes at Freemans Bay Primary school for over 7 years.
Tessa graduated as an actor with a degree from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne in 1994. She has an Masters in Spatial design from AUT in 2010.
Tessa has appeared as an actor in many films, including ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’, ‘Perfect Creature’, ‘Rubbings of a Live Man’ and ‘Oracle Drive’, as well as guest TV roles and numerous theatre performances, recently receiving the Fringe award for ‘I wanna be na nah na nah nah’, directed by Stephen Bain in which Tessa was the co-writer and performer . This turned into her solo show ‘Girl You Want’ which she performed seasons of in both NZ and Melbourne.

- A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
- Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
- Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.
