Join Penny Woodward, author and horticultural editor of the ABC’s Organic Gardener Magazine, for a master class all about herbs.

Easy to grow and abundantly useful, herbs deserve a place in all gardens, large and small. In this class, Penny will explain how to grow a variety of herbs in your garden and discuss their culinary and medicinal uses. Herbs covered will include much-loved favourites as well as some lesser-known gems.

  • If you are unable to attend the live online class, a recording will be available to watch for five days following the session. Please purchase a ticket prior to the class date to access the recording.


Presenter: Penny Woodward

Penny is the author of 8 books on edible and useful plants, and the horticultural editor of the ABC’s Organic Gardener Magazine. Several of Penny’s books, articles and photographs have won awards, including an International Publishers Award and the Book Laurel from the Horticultural Media Association Australia for the best gardening book in the last two years, for her most recent book. Some of Penny’s best-selling books are Herbs for Australian Gardens; Grow Your Own Herbal Remedies; Garlic, An organic guide to growing and using garlic; Pest Repellent Plants and Asian Herbs and Vegetables.

Penny is also a regular panellist on the 3CR gardening program, the Patron of the Herb Society of Victoria, a life member of the Australian Garlic Industry Association and a garlic judge at the Australian Food Awards.

  • Bookings are considered final once payment is made and no refunds will be given for non-attendance.
  • If there are insufficient numbers for an event it may be cancelled or postponed by SGA. If this is the case, you will be notified and given the option of either a full refund or a transfer to a different SGA event of equivalent value.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time for registration and seating
