Tea Pot Making - 2 part Workshop

*Suitable for  Intermediate to Advanced Throwers

Never will you accept tea from a store bought teapot again!

Fun filled and  busy 2 days that will of course include many laughs, lots of chatter and possibly new friendships, are you up for it?

In this workshop, master potter Ian (Ox) McColl will teach you how to throw various styles of teapots, spouts and handles to design and make a teapot of your own. The workshop will involve quite detailed demonstrations of all steps and designs, and of course your practical application.   Guidance and 'fun poking' will also be on hand throughout your experience to ensure that you leave smiling and have a bunch of new skills and hopefully one or two new teapots ready to glaze and fire!

Design, throwing and preparing will be included in the first day, with trimming, assembly and final touches taking place on the second day.

The workshop will run over 3 hours with a break for a delicious afternoon tea, which will be supplied (so please inform us of any dietary requirements) and coffee and tea will be available throughout the day.

* Ian McColl, also known as 'Ox' achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics at Bendigo many hundreds of years ago and worked as a production potter for many years following at some well-known potteries in Victoria. He eventually did his teaching degree is also a school teacher with an extensive career behind him.  The Oxart HQ Studio in Taradale is a successful and thriving  teaching pottery and is now Oxart's primary production studio where we make and fire all of our ceramic ware and of course items for wholesale and local businesses.

Ox's dream of a ceramics and creative hub has come to fruition and we welcome you to become part of Oxart family!

This was a great workshop. It was action packed, I learnt so much about teapot making. Ian was generous with his knowledge and hospitality.

This class, like others I have taken at OxArt was fun, comprehensive and engaging. Small class size, informally structured with enough education and help as well as enough time for creativity. Great coffee and wonderful home made lunch kept us all full. Great bunch of other students who were willing to share their experience as well. Cant wait to collect the items I completed on the day once they are glazed. This class is Highly recommended for people experienced with wheel throwing.
