WHAT TO EXPECT
Life Drawing with Live Music
This special masterclass combines observational drawing with live music in an immersive studio setting. Two guest musicians will model for the session while performing, creating a dynamic atmosphere of sound, rhythm and presence that informs the act of drawing.
Working directly from life, participants will respond to gesture, movement and character, exploring the relationship between sound, form and mark-making.
From Sketch to Resolved Drawing
- The day will begin with a series of quick studies and sketches, gradually developing toward a larger, more resolved drawing. Participants will learn how to translate initial observations into a confident final work.
Exploring Charcoal and Ink
- Using a curation of artist quality charcoal and ink chosen from the Chapman & Bailey art shop, Barbie will demonstrate a range of expressive drawing techniques.
- Through brushes, sticks and washes, participants will experiment with different ways of building line, tone and movement on the page.
Personalised Guidance
- Barbie will provide demonstrations and individual guidance throughout the session, supporting participants at all experience levels to develop their observational and practical skills and creative approach.
A Shared Studio Experience
- Spend the day drawing, experimenting and connecting with others in a relaxed, light and music-filled studio environment.
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with new drawing approaches, greater creative confidence, and a finished work to take home.
All premium materials and refreshments will be provided by Chapman & Bailey.
Participants will also receive 25% off any materials used during the class, available for purchase at the Chapman & Bailey Art Shop.
