Learn to step into the spotlight with our Acting short course program in Sydney.
Act III brings together all the skills developed in Acts I and II, challenging you to take on the thrill and discipline of performing an entire play. Over 10 weeks, you’ll work as part of an ensemble, developing your character from the first page to the final curtain.
You’ll explore the demands of sustaining a role, mastering vocal, physical, and emotional expression across a full-length production. Working collaboratively with your fellow cast members, you’ll discover the joy of storytelling that entertains, moves, and challenges both you and your audience.
In week 10, you’ll present the complete play in a final performance a bold and exciting culmination of your dedication and craft.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Perform a fully rehearsed play as part of an ensemble.
- Sustain a character over the arc of a complete script.
- Use advanced vocal, physical, and emotional techniques.
- Apply professional rehearsal processes.
- Work collaboratively to bring a story to life.

Appropriate for
This course is for students who have completed Acts I and II or have equivalent acting experience, and who are ready for the challenge of performing a full play.

Sophie Gregg
Sophie is a graduate of The Victorian College of the Arts and has worked extensively in theatre and television for 20 years.She absolutely loves teaching at IWD because of its generosity of spirit and inclusivity. Sophie particularly enjoys playing with scripts and helping students to create fun and fabulous performances.
Sophie teaches across all age groups, and most often takes Adults Act III.

If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

- A refund can be requested 10 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$45.00 applies.

At the same time, we’re a not-for-profit organisation that commits resources to running each class—so last-minute cancellations can significantly impact our ability to offer quality, affordable programs.
That’s why we’ve created a simple, transparent policy that balances your need for flexibility with our need to plan and deliver courses sustainably. Our cancellation policy offers two clear options, depending on when you notify us:
Cancel More Than 10 Days Before the Course Starts – You can choose to receive a full refund, minus a $45 administration fee OR a non-refundable credit note valid for 12 months for the full value you paid for the course. This credit can be used towards any future course at the College.
Option 2: Cancel Within 10 Days of the Course Starting - You’ll receive a credit note valid for 12 months for 50% of the course fee you paid for the course. This credit can be used towards any future course at the College.
Please note that both refund and credit options are only available before the course begins. Once the course has started—or if you decide to withdraw after it has commenced—no refunds or credits can be issued. If you need to cancel your enrolment, just email us and we’ll take care of it based on the timelines above.
