NLP Course: Communication Skills

Learn communication skills with our communication & psychology courses in Sydney.

Want to improve the way you communicate with family, friends, colleagues, and your partner? NLP includes a series of techniques that will help you refine and enhance how you communicate with others. Come away feeling more confident and assertive and with better communication skills. Improve all of the relationships in your life as a result.

We all communicate well with some people some of the time. This course is designed to help you extend your range of communication skills so that you can communicate well with most people all of the time. NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) includes a series of techniques to help refine and enhance your communication skills. Feel more confident, assertive and improve your relationships.

This workshop is based on adult-learning principles and will be interactive. A series of NLP techniques will be used. There will be opportunities to practice the techniques taught.

By the end of this NLP communication skills course, you should be able to:

  • Have a method for better understanding other people’s views of the world
  • Determine what their others’ preferred representational system is and how to communicate most effectively with them
  • Use basic active listening skills
  • Express your thoughts and feelings assertively
  • Establish rapport effectively with other people

What will be covered in this NLP communication skills course?

  • A brief overview of the NLP model of communication
  • The elements of communication
  • Discovering a person's favoured representational system and the communication style which works best with it
  • The basis of rapport and how to establish rapport with other people
  • How to determine another person’s values
  • Techniques for communicating assertively
  • Active listening techniques
  • Determining and changing the size of chunks of information
  • Stepping into others’ shoes through using perceptual position techniques

It is difficult to say how the exact structure of the workshop will unfold, as this will partly be based on what is elicited from participants during the workshop. NLP utilises participants' beliefs, values and decisions, and so a fundamental part of the workshop will be discussing these things with participants. NLP techniques include things such as brief, guided visualisations, the use of storytelling (metaphor) and a range of other techniques.

Please note the following:

  • The workshop will be based on adult-learning principles and will be interactive.
  • Please arrive at your class 10 minutes prior to the start time.
