Contemporary Metal offers jewellers and students access to a fully equipped studio including: rolling mill, soldering and melting torches, pendant drills, vacuum casting, vulcaniser and wax injector, hydraulic press, lathe, tumbler, polisher, ultrasonic, large dapping sets and lapidary equipment.

We have benches available for hire on a casual, weekly or ongoing basis.

07 August 2019 • Consolidate & Advance Jewellery Making (Stage 4-9)

I always look forward to my classes at Contemporary Metal. The atmosphere is more than cordial, and instruction always at hand. A very good place to be and a great learning experience, thanks to Philip and Robyn.

06 August 2019 • Consolidate & Advance Jewellery Making (Stage 4-9)

I’ve just finished my fifth course, making a split ring. This is more technically challenging, and with help from Phil I managed to produce a ring that my wife loved. Trouble is, it is not her size so I will be making another one to fit her. The thing is that as a result of all the input from Contemporary Metal and the training I am now capable of more difficult tasks, a long way from a nervous student that couldn’t even saw a piece of brass in a straight line when I first started. To anyone out there who reads this review, and is considering jewellery making, I cannot recommend the courses and friendship that I have encountered here. Stop considering, either sign up for a course, or just drop by to see what we do if you are not sure. What started out as a hobby just to pass time in my retirement, has now become a passion. 05 August 2019 • Introduction to Jewellery Making - Stages 1, 2 & 3

I completed Stage 2 and gained heaps of confidence in soldering. Great team, great environment, lots of advice from Phil (the “Metal Whisperer”). Highly recommend Contemporary Metal to learn jewellery making skills. You will not be disappointed.
