Friends of Edendale - Plant care working bee
Description
The Diamond Creek Edendale Community Revegetation Project
The Friends of Edendale are seeking volunteers to participate in our next plant care working bee to be held on Sunday 20 August from 10.00am to 12 noon.
Our revegetation program involves both planting and subsequently looking after the plantings. This includes such activities as removal of tree guards where the plants have grown enough to not be lost to rabbits and removal of weeds.
The Friends of Edendale in conjunction with Edendale Farm have had a fantastically successful series of planting with Melbourne Water on their Planting4Platypus initiative and volunteers have planted some 1500 individual indigenous tubed stock to date from the Edendale Indigenous Plant Nursery.
This plant care is essential to the long term success of this revegetation and also enables us to recycle the tree guards and stakes for future plantings.
We would love to see you there. Please wear long pants, long sleeved shirts, sturdy closed shoes and gloves.
Booking is very useful to let us know that you are attending and helps us plan the scope of the plant care activities. But ‘drop ins’ are welcome to register and attend on the day too. Please note that children must be accompanied by adults at all times.
