Life Drawing Workshop taught by me (Frances Cannon) hosted at Pink Ember Studio

New Location - 22 Allenby Street, Coburg North


THIS IS A FULLY VACCINATED WORKSHOP

PLEASE WEAR YOUR MASK

MUST BE 18+ YEARS OF AGE


This life drawing class will prioritise queer and marginalised bodies (both models and students) and provide a positive, affirming, and safe environment of body love and creativity


Class structure: 

6:00pm - Students and model arrive, time to socialise and chat, choose your materials, have a snack, free drawing time

6:15pm - Class starts

This part of the class will include multiple short poses (20 second, 1 minute, 5 minute etc) and 1 - 2 longer poses (15 - 20 minute)

8:00pm - Class finishes


Students can expect: 

To have materials provided for (no need to bring anything except a willingness to learn and a positive attitude)

To learn basic drawing skills in a judgement free environment

To be guided through a variety of drawing exercises 

To be surrounded by positive affirmation

To learn how to use different materials including pencil, ink, charcoal etc 


Class guidelines:

No photography while the life drawing is taking place

No judgemental comments are to be made towards models or other students

Any disrespectful people will be asked to leave

All supplies must be left at the studio (you may take your drawings with you)  


Accessibility

If you are attending a workshop, please let us know if you have accessibility requirements prior to your visit. 

There are two front entrances to the space, there is a doorway entrance and a large roller door that can be opened for full access to the workshop space

The floor is sealed cement

Bathroom

Our bathroom is currently not fully wheelchair accessible. There are no steps leading to the bathroom, but there is a ramp and some doorways to manoeuvre through. The bathroom has a door with a width of 75cm

We are in the process of applying for grants to get a fully accessible bathroom put in our building, this will most likely happen in the next couple of years. 


Cancellations, refunds, reschedules:

If I need to cancel a class, I will notify the students ahead of time and I will send a full refund via Weteachme. 

If a student needs to cancel their attendance, they must notify me at least 24 hours before the class commences to receive a full refund. 

If a student would like to reschedule or transfer their ticket, they must notify me 24 hours before the class starts, and pay a transfer fee of $10. If they notify me after the class has taken place, their ticket can not be transferred.

Parking Info

Limited parking on street, but surrounding streets have parking. 

10 minute walk from Batman Station

7 minute walk from North Coburg Terminus/Sydney Rd Tram stop (Tram 19).

Frances Cannon is a queer, multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne/Narrm. They works predominantly in drawing and painting in ink, gouache and watercolour. Frances is well known for their simple yet nuanced style of black and white illustration. Frances' work examines ideas of body-love and body-loathing, anxiety, relationships, sex and sexuality, gender, and bodily functions. Their work can be viewed as diaristic as it is based on personal experience. Frances has been involved in ten successful solo shows at galleries including Tinning Street, Off the Kerb, Courthouse Youth Arts Centre, and numerous group shows at galleries including: Montsalvat, RMIT Gallery, Neon Park, Rubicon ARI, and Fort Delta. Frances has worked with with Teen-Vogue, Gucci, Refinery 29, Third Drawer Down, and has been published in Frankie, Yen, Teen-Vogue, Bustle, HuffPost, Dazed and Confused, Vogue, SBS Australia, i-D Mag, Rookie and many more. Frances is the co-owner and director of Pink Ember Studios in Coburg.

Really welcoming and chill space, the prompts helped me to loosen up and Frances was lovely. I also liked that we all had easels and the ability to stand or sit as we worked, plus the materials were great:)

Such a great class! Frances is lovely and guides the session with fun challenges and the atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly.

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

  • A refund can be requested 6 hours before class starts. Free of charge.
  • A transfer can be requested 6 hours before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested 6 hours before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

Terms & Conditions

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Frances Cannon Art or organised by Frances Cannon Art must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Frances Cannon Art.

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Frances Cannon Art unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Frances Cannon Art classes and events or on Frances Cannon Art’s premises. (For use of Frances Cannon Art marketing materials).
