About this experience

This class is designed to introduce you to the exciting world of wheel thrown pottery.
Master potter Clare Shannon will lead you through the basics of clay selection and preparation, tool selection, and operation of the pottery wheel. This class is purposefully presented as a small group ensuring you have enough time with Clare to learn enough to be comfortable when starting regular classes. All materials and firing in these classes are included in the cost.  You will be contacted via email when your work is available to be collected.  Oxart will hold your pots for a limited time before they are recycled.


Your Host

Clare is an innovative artist and educator with a passion for pottery and is local to the Macedon Ranges. She has over 30 years’ experience in the ceramics industry, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ceramics and a Diploma of Education in Teaching. She is highly skilled at producing functional pottery on the wheel and hand building is her personal favourite. Clare offers fun, engaging and creative experiences at Oxart Studios.

So much fun! Having never sat in front of a pottery wheel before, I finished the 2 hours with an egg cup, 2 mugs, a couple of bowls and an awesome little plate with a lace pattern embedded in it. Thanks for the opportunity! I'll be back.
