*This class is not for beginners, but is a making class for those who cannot last the two weeks of holidays without potting!


About this experience

Our classes provide an enthusiastic environment for exploring your creativity with clay. Learn pottery wheel throwing techniques, the mastering of hand building and the joy of sculpture. The class is not structured to deliver particular outcomes; more to support your creative development and confidence with the medium. You will learn clay preparation through to decorating, glazing and firing techniques. All materials and firing are included in the cost of the lessons.

Your Host

Ian McColl, also known as 'Ox' achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics at Bendigo hundreds of years ago and worked as a production potter for many years following at some well-known potteries in Victoria.  He eventually did his teaching degree is also a school teacher with an extensive career behind him.  Ox currently throws and makes pottery for some major wholesalers and our own gallery/shop whilst passing on his knowledge for 8years now at the Oxart Pottery School.  Pottery classes have been thriving and the purpose designed Taradale studio offers a welcoming environment to unleash your creativity with clay!

These classes are amazing! The studio has everything you need different clays, molds, glazers tools and so much more. If you want to do hand pottery or if you want to do learn to use a pottery wheel this is the place, The potters, Ian and Claire couldn’t be more helpful. Definitely going back.

Great class and teaching. Has all the facilities and utensils you need for both wheel and hand building. Very knowledgeable teachers.

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

  • A refund can be requested 1 day before class starts. Free of charge.
  • A transfer can be requested 2 hours before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested 2 hours before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at OXART pottery or organised by OXART pottery must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER
