Join us for a fun-filled, soul nourishing day & evening of FREE, family friendly workshops, performances and activities.
This special event has been curated with the hope that we can share our love of the arts, with all of you. We are opening our doors and welcoming the community to experience dance, art, poetry, music, film & more.
The Community Open Day will be an opportunity to support both The Fitzroy Art Collective & Rebel Stepz, two creative groups who believe strongly in the importance of the arts and who are focused on building creative, nurturing and artistic experiences for all.

FLOOR BARRE FUNK: 11.10 - 11.50 AM
A fun mat class that will gently get you moving, stretching and awakening your body.
We'll be using simple barre techniques which are all executed on the floor.
Taught by former Royal Ballet ballerina, Sheena, this revitalising session will see you rising and shining to a Funk playlist!
BYO yoga mat. Wear comfortable clothing which allows movement.
Children & adults welcome. Children must be supervised.

AFRO COLOMBIAN DEMO & DANCE: 12 - 12.45 PM
Enjoy the talent of Karen Bravo, Colombian artist & dancer as she introduces you to Afro Colombian dance.
Guests will have the pleasure of watching Karen demonstrate & perform to various rhythms & traditional music whilst explaining the folklore behind both the music and steps. Everyone will be encouraged to take part in learning some simple moves so get your dancing shoes on!
Wear comfortable clothing which allows movement.

SAMANTHA SHARPE 12.45 - 1.15 PM
Grab yourself something from our sausage sizzle, & sit back and relax to the sounds of singer, Samantha Sharpe.
Samantha is an enigma & not your average acoustic act. With lyrics that will make you think, and a voice that doesn't quite match her small frame, what you see, may not be what you hear. With her debut EP “Gilded Cage” out mid-November, this may be the first you hear of her, but it certainly won’t be the last.

COMMUNITY COLLAGE 1.30 - 2.30 PM
Let's get creative! This fun workshop will have us all creating one big collage, the catch is, it will be against the clock!
Everyone will be given simple tasks that will get them creating, before we move onto another. By the end of the workshop, we'll have a created an art piece that reflects us, our interpretations of the tasks and something good enough to hang at the Louvre!

A Melbourne based band who love to jam! This eclectic bunch are lead by Robert Cole, a gravely voiced singer who loves to share his passion for Blues, Rock, Folk & Soul.
Grab a drink, grab a snack, sit back and enjoy the tunes!
BOLLYWOOD & HIP HOP FUSION 3.15 - 3.45 PM
Discover how cool it is when you blend Bollywood dancing with Hip Hop!
We'll be getting down with the dancers from WFT Crew and learning all the best moves! This fun dance class will have you making shapes to Bollywood music whilst getting a feel of commercial Indian dancing and basic Hip Hop steps. There will be demonstrations from the dancers too!

SIP N' SKETCH 4.30 - 5.15 PM
Relax with a beverage or two and let us take you through some simple sketching exercises.
This workshop is not based on technique but freedom of expression.
Interpret what you see in your own way. Use your senses and your creativity to produce your very own piece of art.

KORALY DIMITRIADIS POET & PERFORMER 5.30 - 6 PM
Koraly Dimitriadis is a Cypriot-Australian writer and actor and the author of ‘Love and F--k Poems’ and ‘Just Give Me The Pills’ .
Both of these books form the basis of her theatre show “Saying The Wrong Things” which premiered at La Mama Courthouse Theatre. Koraly also makes films of her poems. She had received funding to tour the USA and Europe. She was awarded a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship for her novel Divided Island, and the UNESCO City of Literature residency in Krakow in 2019. Koraly is also an editor and publisher, and an opinion writer for the Australian media. She has been published in The Washington Post.
This will be a rare opportunity to catch Koraly in an intimate environment where she will be sharing some of her acclaimed work and performances.

NATATTACK DJ Set 6.00 - 6.30 PM
Nat AKA Natattack is a firm supporter of the arts and artists. Nat is herself an artistic entrepreneur, founding PunderPants, a unique and creative underwear line & Revolutionary Drones, a management service helping to support independent artists.
Natattack will be providing us with some upbeat tracks so we can dance, relax, eat, drink and minge before our next activity.

SWIPE RIGHT 6.30 - 7.15 PM
Swipe Right: The Web Series started as an onstage Sketch Comedy Show in 2015. Created through the process of improvisation, the script went from a blank page to the stage over the course of 6 months. The play was written by Cam Faull, Lynn Hagele, Jessie Oliver, Constance Washington, and Ben Watts.
After 2 highly successful theatre runs, it’s last time in 2017, it was time to take these characters to the screen.
In this screening, we'll follow 6 different characters in their uniquely quirky tales surrounding the search for connection, mostly, in the wrong places.
There will be the opportunity to ask questions about the series following the screening.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Rebel Stepz or organised by Rebel Stepz must agree to these terms and conditions.
1.) LIABILITY WAIVER
I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Rebel Stepz.
2.) PHOTO & VIDEO
I agree to give Rebel Stepz unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Rebel Stepz classes and events or on Rebel Stepz’s premises. (For use of Rebel Stepz marketing materials).
Classes are non-refundable.
In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund or credit.
WAIVER: On agreeing to attend any Rebel Stepz® event, & the reading of this document, you waive & release Rebel Stepz® from any & all claims, without limitation, for damage, loss, expense, costs or compensation whether for personal, student or visitor injury, property damage, losses &/or death that may arise from your/ student participation in any class. You accept & agree that you/students will abide by all safety instructions & recommendations, whether oral or in writing & hereby release Rebel Stepz® & its servants, representatives, contractors, agents & employees from all liability & responsibility for any injury, property damage, losses &/or death that may occur during the class/event within &/or outside the class premises.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: You shall make no attempt to approach Rebel Stepz staff for any reason other that inquiring about other classes/events on the Rebel Stepz premises. Further inquiries should be directed to Sheena Chundee, Rebel Stepz Director. Clients must not approach any Rebel Stepz team member in a personal capacity.
Class plans devised by instructors & Rebel Stepz must not be replicated by own personal business/company.
Rebel Stepz® advises that there is a“No Phone” policy during classes. Rebel Sepz alone shall have the right to produce photographs, images &/or video clips (“images”) taken by Rebel Stepz® during class(es) which shall remain the sole property of Rebel Stepz® & such images maybe used by Rebel Stepz® for promotional services provided. Rebel Stepz® confirms that no names will accompany any images taken during class(es) unless agreed by the guest/client. Guests may request that they are not photographed or filmed during events/workshops but this must be made clear to patrons before the workshop/event.
Defamatory comments about Rebel Stepz & all its patrons is strictly forbidden.
If images and information is by approved for sharing by Rebel Stepz, they must include the Rebel Stepz name & be linked, where applicable to www.rebelstepzarts.com, our Instagram, and/or our Facebook Page/ Social Media accounts.
All guests/clients are bound to a confidentiality condition imposed by Rebel Stepz®. Guests are advised not to replicate events, workshops, sessions, routines, exercises, performances or classes organised by Rebel Stepz® for their own or anyone else’s personal gain. No information concerning Rebel Stepz® must be passed on. This includes event management, ideas/plans, choreography, contacts, merchandise, designs.
PAYMENT: All ticket sales or invoices must be cleared in full. Late payment fees apply. Failure to do so will result in exemption from the class/event & immediate legal action.
Rebel Stepz® reserves the right to change or cancel up to & including the date of the class if unforeseen circumstances occur. Refunds only apply to classes cancelled by Rebel Stepz.
Rebel Stepz® is under no obligation to issue refunds if guests are late, cancel, or do not turn up for class(es)/events.
By reading this document & attending classes/events of Rebel Stepz®, you the client will abide by all the above terms & conditions. Breaching of this contract, by you, the client, will result in immediate legal action. Please be aware that this contract is an on-going legal document & is active after & during your time with Rebel Stepz.
