Hand-Building with Clay, 4-Week Beginner Workshop
Ready to get creative, learn a new skill, and play with clay?
Join us at Samford Potters Collective for a fun, hands-on pottery workshop designed especially for beginners! Over four relaxed and inspiring sessions (2.5 hours per week), you’ll dive into the essential techniques of hand-building with clay—from pinch pots and coil work to slab construction and creative attachments using slip.
What you’ll learn:
The foundations of clay construction, how to shape and sculpt clay by hand building strong joins and creating functional ceramics, decorating and glazing techniques in the final week.

All clay, tools, underglazes, and materials
Firing of your work
A bonus week between classes to dry & prepare your creations for glazing
A relaxed, creative studio environment (and cake, of course!)
Guidance from experienced ceramic artists
By the end of the 4 weeks, you’ll have a beautiful collection of handmade ceramic pieces to take home—and the confidence to keep creating! Graduates will also be invited to join our exclusive Clay Club to continue their pottery journey.
NOTE: This class runs for 5 weeks in total - 4 sessions with a week's break to allow for drying and firing time so that your pieces will be ready for the final fourth session which is glazing.

The Samford Potters Collective is a new custom-built pottery studio located just 25 km from the heart of Brisbane city and sits in the beautiful green hills of Camp Mountain (Samford).
We believe that pottery is a timeless craft that can be enjoyed by all. We offer a variety of workshops, weekly classes, and wheel classes for beginner to advanced levels, private events, and more. Our full-service pottery studio has everything you need to get started on your pottery journey.
We are passionate about creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for our students and members. Our team of experienced potters and instructors are always on hand to provide guidance and advice every step of the way.

This class is run by our very experienced teacher Nic who has all the techniques and answers to all your questions as you progress along your clay journey.

You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

- A refund can be requested 3 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$50.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 1 day before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$50.00 applies.
- A credit note can be requested 3 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.

(For use of Samford Potters Collective marketing materials). We will always respect your right to privacy - just let us know that you would like to be excluded from photos, videos, etc.
