Taking flower such as Lavendar, pelargoniums, violets and borage into the kitchen will really boost the flavour of the dishes you serve.  In this one hour Master Class will guide you in selecting the right edible flowers for your garden, balcony, or windowsill, and provide creative ideas for growing, harvesting, and using them.

Why Grow Edible Flowers - Discover how edible flowers can enhance your garden and home with beauty, pollination benefits, and culinary versatility. From vibrant salads and teas to desserts, cocktails, and elegant garnishes, these blooms offer aesthetic, practical, and economic value—all captured in inspiring photos. 

Selecting the Right Flowers and the Space - Learn to select edible flowers suited to your climate and grow them safely in sunny, well-drained spots or containers. Start with organic seeds or seedlings, water regularly, and avoid chemicals. Always confirm flower identity, use only organically grown blooms, and introduce new varieties slowly to check for allergies. Harvest in the morning at full bloom, use clean petals, and store briefly in the fridge. 

Perennial vs. Annual Flowers - Understand the differences between perennial and annual edible flowers, and how to plan your garden accordingly. 

Growing in Containers - Explore techniques for successfully growing edible flowers in pots and containers, ideal for small spaces. 

Companion Planting - Learn how certain edible flowers can benefit other plants by attracting pollinators and deterring pests. 

Harvesting and Usage Ideas - Gain practical tips on harvesting edible flowers and creative ways to incorporate them into your cooking and beverages.

Teresa Day works are SGA as their Master Class Co-ordinator. She is a sustainable design professional with experience in community development and environmental education.  A home gardener for over 20 years and a chicken keeper and forager she has a particular interest in personal sustainable choices and lifestyle changes individuals can implement within their home and garden to reduce their carbon footprint and connect better with their local community.
