She Skills is a collaboration between partners in life and work, Meg and Clint Solly, whose creative credentials go way back. Team Solly has been a creative force since 2000, when they met as performers.
Clint is a qualified furniture tradesperson with 20 years experience building everything from solid timber furniture to theatrical sets.
Meg has been Clint's trusty trades assistant for many years and is now officially an apprentice cabinet maker. Meg has worked on large construction projects around the country.
Together they have years of experience in training people of all ages. She Skills is a passion project that challenges stereotypes and helps women to find a new confidence to try skills that they previously thought were beyond their capabilities.
I really enjoyed my pallet workshop day . Meg and Alison were delightful so friendly and helpful . It was a great environment in which to learn new skills and really good value for money . I am looking forward to attending more of these days
On the first day we learnt how to make several types of joints using traditional wood working techniques. It was quite meditative sawing and chiselling away at wood for hours on end. On the second day we designed and made our picture frames. The experience was wonderful and I felt like I had accomplished a lot. Thank you, Meg and Clint
Thoroughly enjoyed the days - a big weekend! Maybe a little tweaking of the program could bring the finish time back marginally. Good to see and use various power tools and get an understanding of the skills and knowledge through the course of the project. Thanks to Meg and Clint for the availability of such a venue, and their 4-legged assistant, Max. Cheers, Kay
