Description

The Pattern Fitting & Pattern Alterations class is designed to introduce you to some of the most important fitting alterations for womens dress patterns.  It's a four hour workshop and is suitable for beginner pattern makers. Some sewing experience is required to aid your understanding of the pattern alterations.

The sleeveless shift dress included in the training is graded sizes 4-22 and provided to the every student as an A0 print document for use during the session.

There are demonstrations and pattern fitting exercises that take you step-by-step through locating the best postion for the bust dart and minor pattern alterations.  In particular the vertical measurements that get the waist of your dress in the right place.

With every class the student receives a training package that contains:

  • A copy of the full pattern, all sizes, in A0 print format for future use.
  • A separate copy of the half front pattern and corresponding Pattern Fitting  notes for the in class training.
  • Additional training materials for the continued adjustment of the fit of your dress pattern.

Class Schedule

This incursion is ideal for up to 25 students and takes place in your classroom. Full day cost of $1000 (excl GST) Half-day cost of $500 (excl GST) That's an average of $40 per student (excl GST) for the full day. Contact me for suitable dates.

What you will learn
  • The important body measurements for perfecting the fit of all dress patterns.
  • How to make personal fitting changes to the sleeveless shift dress pattern.
  • A number of basic pattern alterations focused on the sample sleeveless shift dress pattern.

  • Access to all the materials and equipment needed to complete the pattern making exercises.
  • Increased confidence in their pattern making skills and their ability to make their own clothing.
  • A knowledge of fitting issues related to commercial sewing patterns.

What to bring
  • A HB pencil and eraser, glue stick, ruler, tape measure and scissors.
  • Feel free to bring any of your favourite pattern making rulers and tools.
What to wear

Please wear shoes that cover and protect your feet. It's a workshop environment and we're keen to keep your toes safe. :)

Refunds

  • You may request to withdraw from a class up to 7 working days prior to the commencement of a class. You will be charged a 10% administration fee if you cancel in less than 7 days.
  • In some instances bookings can be transferred to other class.
  • There is no refund if you withdraw within 48hours of the start of the class.
  • Requests for refunds should be made via email to Studio Faro (enquiries@studiofaro.com).

Transfers

  • You may request to transfer from one class to another up 7 days prior to the commencement of a class.
  • Requests for transfers must be made via email to Studio Faro.

Absences: There are no refunds, transfers or substitutions if you miss a class without making prior arrangements as above.

CLASS BOOKING DETAILS

Before booking please check the class information on the website to ensure places are available in your chosen class.

Who can book?

  • No qualifications or pre-requisites are necessary unless specified in the class description.
  • Classes are available to anyone over the age of 16 years.
  • For applicants under 18 years of age registration must be accompanied by an email granting permission from a parent or guardian.

How to BOOK:

  • Bookings can be made via the website using a paypal or a credit card.
  • If youโ€™re unable to pay by these methods please contact me (enquiries@studiofaro.com) directly to arrange an EFT payment.
  • Class fees must be paid in full to confirm a place in all classes.
  • Payment by cheque or bank transfer is accepted:

Class Cancellation

  • Studio Faro reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class due to under-enrolment. In this case, you will receive a full refund or transfer to another class.
  • Studio Faro reserves the right to amend any class, schedule, location or tutor listed on the website before or during the class.
  • Studio Faro retains the right to remove any disruptive student from the class if it is considered that their behaviour is impacting in a detrimental way on the learning experience of the other students. There will be no refund of class fees in this instance.

Occupational Health & Safety

  • Studio Faro students must comply with the health and safety regulations. Please notify the Director of Studio Faro at enquiries@studiofaro.com of any existing medical condition or disability that may affect your participation in a class.
  • Students are required to wear closed toe shoes for safety in the workroom.
