Customised denim jackets

Join us for an exciting Customised Denim Jacket Art Workshop designed for kids! In this hands-on workshop, participants will have the opportunity to turn plain denim jackets into unique pieces of art. Here’s what to expect:

Workshop Details:
- Age Group: Kids aged 10 -14
- Duration: 3.5 hours
- Materials Provided: Denim jackets, fabric paints, iron patches, transfer, stencils, air brushes, and other embellishments.

Instructions:

1. Design Planning:
- Each child will start by sketching their design ideas on paper. This is their chance to brainstorm themes, patterns, and colors they want to use.

2. Preparation of Denim:
- Participants will learn how to prepare their denim jacket for painting, ensuring a smooth surface for their artwork.

3. Painting Techniques:
- Our instructor will demonstrate various painting techniques, including stenciling, splattering, and freehand painting. Kids will practice on scrap fabric before applying their designs.

4. Adding Embellishments:
- Once the paint is dry, kids can enhance their jackets with cool iron on patches and transfers, studs, jewels, sewing on trimmings by hand or using sewing machines and other fun materials to add texture and personality.

Please Note:

We will provide a second hand denim jacket in your child's size, please provide size when booking. If your child is particular about the colour or style, you are welcome to bring your own jacket.

Anna Kolusniewski, a seasoned costume and jewelry designer, founded "Aa is for Art" in Melbourne's inner west after a successful career in the fashion industry. She now leads term-based visual arts programs for children and workshops for adults, while also teaching at various institutions throughout Melbourne. 

Anna has collaborated with numerous nonprofit and government-funded organizations to deliver impactful art therapy programs. Recognized as one of Australia’s foremost costume jewelry designers, Anna specializes in theatrical and period styles. Her award-winning work has been featured in a variety of bridal and fashion publications, showcased at Fashion Week, and highlighted in film and theater productions. Additionally, Anna has contributed to many group exhibitions, further establishing her presence in the art community.

She believes everyone has the ability to be creative and with positive encouragement can produce beautiful artwork. She also believes creativity has a calming effect on children and builds confidence through a sense of achievement, she loves inspiring children to push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of to send them to next level.
