Explore your lettering creativity with the foundation of basic letterforms. In this class you’ll gain an understanding of working with a chisel shaped nib continuing to refine your calligraphic technique by focusing on basic strokes, letter construction, pen angles and spatial awareness.

Make a name tag, bookmark or envelop.

Calligraphy kit is included in the cost of the course.

Note please let us know if you write with left hand.

Course Outline

  • Introduction to the foundational hand, its style, letter construction and characteristics.
  • Introduction to writing with a chisel shaped nib by creating pen basic strokes.
  • Study lower case series addition with capital vowels.
  • Introduce colour, layout and composition with the idea of combining them with card making, name tag, bookmark, envelop.

ABOUT ZENAB BASTAWALA

Zenab is a a type anthropologist and a calligrapher with love of harmony, rhythm and space of letters.

Her love of letter forms led her to specialise in the beautiful art of writing called calligraphy. She developed the understanding of type with its lines and shapes and her constant research about the history and formation of letters has given her new ways of thinking in calligraphy. She has been working as a designer for 9 years with 3 years of lettering study.

Cancelation & Refund Policy

REFUNDS

Work-Shop requires 72 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund. If you miss this window, earn some extra karma points and give your ticket to one of your buddies. The tickets are fully transferable. Email learn@work-shop.com.au to organise a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We’ll do our darndest to run all scheduled classes, however, let’s face it… sometimes shit happens! Most of our classes must have a minimum of 5 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Work-Shop or organised by Work-Shop must agree to these terms and conditions.

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Work-Shop unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Work-Shop classes and events or on Work-Shop’s premises. (Don’t worry, we’ll only these use to show others how much of a rad time you’re having through social media, newsletters, blogs, website and general Work-Shop promo material)
