Malvern School of Art

The Malvern School of Art's 10 week children's book writing and illustration course was amazing. Tull comprehensively covered so much information and it far exceeded my expectations. Tull is highly knowledgeable and experienced, and shared his skills with humour and generosity. Our 10 weeks went by flying by and the whole group was thankful for sharing the studio with Tull. We even tried talk him into starting an extension course so we could continue! 😊

I went into this course thinking that there is no way one can learn enough in 10 weeks to be even remotely competent in learning how to write, illustrate and publish a picture book. That's like going from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye. Well... try 0 to 1000 because that's what Tull did in taking me from having no idea to knowing everything there is to know plus more! Not only did I learn the business side of things but I couldn't believe that I learnt how to write properly and draw. There are actual formulas, rules and techniques to this sort of stuff and I actually learnt it all. Tull is multidimensional, multi-talented and proactive every step of the way. I was also pleasantly surprised at how skilled he was in working with my disabilities to ensure I would fit right in. The only negative I have about this course is that it was over in the blink of an eye. Time flies when you're having fun! Be prepared for your inner child to come out in the magical safe space created by Tull. Don't let anyone tell you that it's too hard or too late to publish a picture book because that's what I did for way too long. The final words Tull left me with "It's never too late, Billy."

This 10 week course is incredible! The depth of information shared with us was beyond expectations. Tull is an energetic, fun and engaging teacher with a wealth of knowledge. It was so sad that the course had to end as it was so much fun, but we all finished armed with everything we need to actualize our creative ambitions. Thank you Tull ... Sarah
