GET A RUSH WITH THE BRUSH –  BRUSH SCRIPT WORKSHOP

with Madeline Deneys from Old School the New School for Design and Typography

This workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of creating Brush Script, a technique developed during the 20th century. It’s sophisticated, expressive and allows you to personalise the style for your own typographic projects.

We will begin by grasping the basic strokes of Brush Script, which will allow you to gradually developbeautifully letterforms based on these strokes. You will be guided through handy tips and techniques to create the most ideal letters, in terms of weight, shape, space and visual pattern.

These key skills are paramount to creating elegant, flowing Brush Script, which by the end of the workshop, will be applied to words of your choice.

Participants will take away an improved knowledge of how to use hand-lettering skills to create and enhancemeaning, plus a brand new skill to use for posters, cards and other lettering and design projects, equipped with the essential skills to understand and create typography with flair and meaning. Perfect for designers and type lovers.

ABOUT MADELINE DENEYS FROM OLD SCHOOL THE NEW SCHOOL FOR DESIGN AND TYPOGRAPHY

This workshop is presented by Old School the New School for Design and Typography – Melbourne’s rebellious and uniquely typographic design school. The instructor is the School’s loyal comrade Madeline Deneys, a graphic designer and type nerd whose love for sharing knowledge, inspiring a vision and creating vibrant, thoughtful work is infectious. Madeline relishes in the process, usually with an element of handcraft, and usually typography related.

Cancelation & Refund Policy

REFUNDS

Work-Shop requires 72 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund. If you miss this window, earn some extra karma points and give your ticket to one of your buddies. The tickets are fully transferable. Email learn@work-shop.com.au to organise a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We’ll do our darndest to run all scheduled classes, however, let’s face it… sometimes shit happens! Most of our classes must have a minimum of 5 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Work-Shop or organised by Work-Shop must agree to these terms and conditions.

  •  Any damage, loss or theft incurred to personal property property brought into Work-Shop’s premises.
  • Any physical injuries sustained as a result of participating in any class or event organised by Work-Shop.

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Work-Shop.


2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Work-Shop unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Work-Shop classes and events or on Work-Shop’s premises. (Don’t worry, we’ll only these use to show others how much of a rad time you’re having through social media, newsletters, blogs, website and general Work-Shop promo material)
