RULES OF TYPISIM

with Zak Southgate

Lettering, Brush Script and Typography skills are currently in high demand and are a valuable tool to have in your arsenal, whether it’s for personal or professional application. Zak will guide you through the ‘Rules of Typism’, how to get started, the foundational basics and then how to effectively break them; because who likes rules anyway.

Over the three hour workshop, you will start with looking at the basics and foundational principles of creating letterforms through sample alphabets and examples, both standard and with a brush pen, before learning how to break the rules effectively and expressively. Finally, you will concept a piece, start to finish, using the techniques learned through the class.

‘Rules of Typism’ will be beneficial for anyone just starting out and wanting to learn or someone looking to improve their skills and techniques. The core idea is to get the basics down, then go crazy with them. So get ready for a great day and make sure to bring your best attitude and creative spirit!
