In this introductory 1 day Sign Painting Workshop students will learn the basics of freehand brush lettering and sign writing with Signpainter and Pinstriper, Derek Warner. An expert in the sign industry, Derek has run his own business for 30+ years specialising in hand painted signs,pinstriping, gold leaf and manufactured signs.

This workshop will cover the tools, paints and processes of traditional signwriting. You will learn the essential brush control techniques and fundamentals of casual script lettering. All materials, paints and brushes will be provided.

Derek will take you through the basics of how to sign write, learning all about the equipment needed to set up a basic sign writing kit (brushes, paint, rest stick/ mahl stick etc) and how to use it.

Once you've mastered the basic brush stroke techniques, you'll be given a panel to paint your own custom sign which you'll get to take home with you.

Whether you've had some previous experience or are completely new to the sign game, come brush up (excuse the pun) on some skills and learn from an expert signpainter with over 30 years of experience and knowledge!

  • This is a hands-on class with plenty of paint so old / protective clothing is advisable as well as covered in footwear. You WILL get paint on you!
  • Please note: There will be a 30 minute break for lunch. We are a stones throw from Smith St & Brunswick St so plenty of good food options nearby (or pack some lunch if you prefer)!

Cancelation & Refund Policy

REFUNDS

Work-Shop requires 72 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund. If you miss this window, earn some extra karma points and give your ticket to one of your buddies. The tickets are fully transferable. Email learn@work-shop.com.au to organise a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We’ll do our darndest to run all scheduled classes, however, let’s face it… sometimes shit happens! Most of our classes must have a minimum of 5 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Work-Shop unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Work-Shop classes and events or on Work-Shop’s premises. (Don’t worry, we’ll only these use to show others how much of a rad time you’re having through social media, newsletters, blogs, website and general Work-Shop promo material)
