Are you hooked on brush lettering? Got your technique down but are itching to take it even further? This session with Alena from Moonlight Creation is all about getting creative and cutting loose with your lettering skills.
Please note: in order to do this class, you must have completed our Introduction to Brush Lettering course or similar, and be confident in your basic brush lettering skills, as this class is about expanding on the basics- no simple lettering techniques will be covered. Perfect for those who have a little experience and want to play more.
We will explore and learn the following:
How to achieve the gradient look, mixing two colours together to blend to perfection
Add shadows to your letters depending on where the light source is coming from.
We know you have been dying to finally add those fancy looking tails to your letters, so we are gonna show you how!
Even the most perfectly formed letters can be lost if you don't nail your composition. Learn how to make your hand written quotes look creative and fun, but still clean and organised.
Alena is a Sydney-based graphic designer and a self taught Hand Letterer/Calligrapher. Her passion for anything hand written started from younger years, when back in Russia her mother taught her cursive writing. This passion grew stronger during her studies at University whilst she was studying Bachelor of Visual Communication.
Overwhelmed by how much the digital era is taking over, Alena picked up the brush pen, the nib pen and started learning the art of brush lettering & calligraphy. Now she is eager to pass this skill on to people who are eager to learn this art, as she believes that writing with our hands is a skill that should never be replaced by a font/typeface.
- Loads of techniques to expand on your brush lettering skills (please note this class will NOT cover basic lettering- see Intro to Brush Lettering for that!)
- How to compose a balanced, fun and clean looking hand lettered quote onto paper
- A materials pack including tracing paper, paper and fineline pens
- A workbook with the sessions content to keep practicing at home
- Expert guidance and tutorial from Alena
- Your Artline Brush Stix pens (or similar set) from your Intro to Brush Lettering class. There will be more to purchase on the day if needed. Also bring along any other pens you love to use
- Pencil and a ruler
- A 3-5 word quote that you wil turn into a stunning lettering piece
Anybody who has already taken part in Intro to Brush Lettering or a similar class/has brush lettering experience, and wants to expand on their basic skill set.
