
Chinese Brush Painting with Mr Dan Zhang
Description
A short 6 week course on Chinese Brush Painting. In this introductory course Mr Dan Zhang will lead us on a brief journey to understand and use some of the basic techniques of this beautiful painting method which is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. Dan Zhang is an accomplished artist who initially studied fine art at university in Shanghai and also has a degree in art education from Melbourne University. He has taught extensively both overseas and in private schools in Melbourne. In this short course you will learn about:
the background and history of this genre
the aesthetic nature of the art form
the different materials used
basic mark making techniques and their applications
how to paint some traditional Chinese brush painting motifs
At the end of this short course you will understand and have had some opportunities to try out some Chinese Brush Painting techniques and incorporate them into your art practice.
When: Wednesday August 13th to Wednesday September 17th, 10am to 12noon. Where: Box Hill Community Arts Centre, 470 Station Street Box Hill. Cost: $165 - Members, $195 - Non members.

Membership is open to anyone between 16 and 116 years of age. Whether you are just starting out in painting or drawing or have been doing it for years you will love being a part of this group, meeting with like minded people to express yourself visually.

Transfers for classes that cannot be attended need to be made up within the same term.
Non members are entitled to only purchase ONE single $30 tutored class. All additional purchases require the participant to become a member of the Box Hill Art Group. This condition excludes Life Drawing sessions and one day workshops which are open to everyone.
Memberships are not transferable to other people. Class payments are not transferable to other members.
