Description

Join Azumi, of byAzumi Floristry Design Studio, in this autumn clematis floristry design experience, designed as an immersive, creative experience as well as hands-on and practical floristry technique and design workshop utilising this unique flower species.

GET INSPIRED and LEARN about this UNIQUE FLOWER VARIETY and UTILISING THE SPECIAL CHARACTERS WITHIN FLORAL DESIGN

CLEMATIS has a unique shape, colour, growing process and is NOT USUALLY AVAILABLE IN CUT FLOWER, by visiting the grower directly we are able to utilise this unique flower – a rare treat!

LEARN FLORAL DESIGN & USE THE CLEMATIS UNIQUENESS IN 2 different styles.

Azumi will conduct two workshops with you:

  1. Ikebana
Azumi is an expert florist who has worked across the world in Japan, Europe and Australia. In this workshop, Azumi demonstrates ‘hanakubari’, a contemporary Japanese ikebana style. Azumi will share her knowledge of floral design using the simplicity and beauty of Japanese ikebana techniques.
  2. Freestyle Arrangement
For this workshop, we have made an easy to understand process to help you accomplish your own free-style arrangement with seasonal garden flowers. These carefree, thrown-together-looking arrangements do have rules and principles behind them which we look forward to sharing with you in this workshop.
We will be observing the individual movement and character of our seasonal garden flowers and the role they play in helping achieve an organic outline for our arrangements

Both arrangements are yours to keep and take home at the end of the workshop.

Alameda Homestead Nursery is a small family owned production nursery specialising in hybrid clematis, wisteria, daphne and hardy perennials.

You will have the opportunity to meet Judy Button, owner of Alameda Homestead Nursery, who will give you a tour of her working flower farm growing over 100 different clematis species.

Experience includes cutting your own clematis and understanding and appreciating this unique species as well as the growing process.

In relaxed and open group discussions you will have the opportunity to chat with Azumi and Judy, sharing their passion and love of clematis as well as be some of the first to visit Alameda Homestead Nursery, and see a working flower farm in all its glory.

Lunch and morning tea will be provided on the day, making for a lovely day connecting with nature, learning some new skills and experiencing a working flower farm.

22 April 2019 • FLORAL DESIGN WORKSHOPS at CLEMATIS FLOWER FARM

‘Beautiful’ was constantly heard throughout the day at the Clematis workshop. All was perfectly organised from a delicious welcome, engaging talk and guide through the Alameda nursery, to choosing and cutting our own flowers for an Ikebana and freestyle arrangement. Due to Azumi’s clear, creative demonstrations and individual guidance as only she can do, everyone, beginner and the experienced alike, went home with 2 beautiful and unique arrangements. In between Heath organised a fresh, tasty lunch and all left happily having had a memorable, relaxing learning experience and looking forward to more. Thank you, Azumi!
