SCA Green Coffee - Foundation (1 Day) $700
This course is designed to introduce you to basic concepts regarding the consuming side of green coffee, and provides you with valuable knowledge and skills for roles in green coffee buying, roasting, and quality control.
It is also essential preparation for components of the Q Grader course, including:
- Recognising sensory defects.
- Using grading screens, moisture meters, and density meters.
You will learn about the coffee supply chain from seed to cup, including:
- Botany basics - The origins of species and varieties.
- Cultivation - Where coffee is produced, and the limits of where coffee can be grown.
- Farming - Farm types, plant management, and certification schemes.'
- Harvesting and processing methods.
- Grading systems.
- Trading markets.
- Transport and storage.
- Decaffeination.
Practical activities include:
- Cupping coffees of different species and processes.
- Comparing green coffee samples of different species and processes.
- Recognition of sensory defects in brewed coffee.
- Using a moisture meters, density meter, and grading screens.
Participants who successfully complete the online exam after the course will receive the internationally recognised SCA Green Coffee Foundation certification. SCA Green Coffee Foundation certification earns credit towards the SCA Coffee Trade Diploma and the SCA Sustainable Coffee Diploma.

Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A refund can be requested 14 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$20.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 14 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.

Once your booking is confirmed, we begin the process of preparing your class. Although we understand unexpected events or illness may require that you reschedule or cancel your booking, our refund policy reflects the costs incurred in the preparation of the scheduled class.
Electronic Devices in the Classroom
Electronic devices (including mobile phones) should be switched off or silent to avoid distractions in the classroom.
However, your instructor may allow you to use a device for translation assistance where necessary.
