POTTERY CLASSES - group bookings only

Get together. Get creative. Get your hands dirty!

This special session is designed for pottery beginners and clay enthusiasts looking for a one-off creative experience or a fun group get-together.

Whether you’re organising a gathering with friends, a work team, a birthday celebration or a hens’ night, come along for some pottery, creativity and clay therapy at Clay Talk.

Jump on the pottery wheel or handbuild your way to creative delights with the guidance of our experienced tutors. No previous pottery experience is necessary — just bring your enthusiasm and an open mind!

Group sizes

● Pottery Wheel: Maximum 10 people per group.

● Handbuilding: Groups of more than 10 people will work with handbuilding only.

● Maximum group size: 20 people.

Handbuilding offers a more sculptural, expressive and free-form experience than working on the pottery wheel, making it a great option for larger groups.

YOUR POTTERY PARTY INCLUDES

During your session you’ll have:

● Unlimited access to reclaimed clay to use to your heart’s content.

● All the pottery tools you need to create your work.

● Your work carefully stored on ware boards while it dries.

● The opportunity to choose up to 3 of your favourite pieces to keep.

● Your selected pieces trimmed, bisque fired and glazed by our experienced kiln technician.

● Your finished pieces available for collection from Clay Talk at Montsalvat approximately 3–4 weeks after your pottery party.

WHAT TO BRING

● Your smartphone or camera for capturing happy snaps.

● Your own towel or small towelette.

● A plastic bag for taking home your dirty towel.

● A smock or casual clothing that you don’t mind getting a little muddy.

● A bottle of water, particularly on warm days.

● Enthusiasm and an open mind for having fun with clay!

ON THE DAY

Please arrive at Clay Talk 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to settle in and get ready.

Clay Talk is located within the grounds of Montsalvat. We recommend using the public amenities within the Montsalvat grounds before your session begins.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

BOOKINGS & PAYMENT

To secure your place in a class, course or workshop, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Bookings and payments are accepted exclusively through our online booking portal here at We Teach Me. 

ACCESS

Clay Talk studio is located within the grounds of Montsalvat. Security measures are in place to prevent trespassing and to help maintain the safety of our visitors, students and staff.

Upon booking, you will receive an Information Kit containing instructions for accessing the Clay Talk studio. Please read this information carefully before attending.

REFUNDS, ABSENCES, TRANSFERS & CANCELLATIONS

We do not offer refunds if you change your mind after making a booking. Please ensure that you are able to commit to the nominated class, course or workshop date and time before booking.

If your group size increases, we may be able to accommodate additional participants, subject to availability.

If your group size decreases after booking, we are unable to provide a refund for participants who no longer attend.

Transfers may be considered upon email request and are subject to availability. If a transfer cannot be accommodated, Clay Talk may offer a credit note or transfer to a later term of the same class, where appropriate.

If you are unable to attend a class or workshop, please contact us at claytalk@montsalvat.com.au on the day of your scheduled session. In exceptional circumstances, alternative arrangements may be considered.

Clay Talk reserves the right to cancel a class or workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, including insufficient enrolments, tutor illness or essential maintenance works.

Where a cancellation is necessary, you will be notified as soon as possible and, where appropriate, offered a rescheduled date or pro-rata refund.

ILLNESS

If a class or workshop needs to be cancelled due to tutor illness and a suitable replacement cannot be found, Clay Talk will endeavour to provide a rescheduled date.

If you are unable to attend the rescheduled class or workshop, please email claytalk@montsalvat.com.au as soon as possible and before the rescheduled session commences.

Where a student cannot attend the rescheduled session, Clay Talk may, at its discretion, provide either a credit note or a pro-rata refund, less a 10% administration fee.

FIRING OF WORK

Pottery Party sessions include the firing and glazing of up to 3 selected pieces per participant, as outlined in the workshop description.

We take great care with all student work. However, ceramics is an unpredictable process and we cannot guarantee that every piece will survive drying and firing successfully.

Clay Talk accepts no responsibility for work that cracks, breaks, warps, explodes or otherwise fails during the drying, firing or glazing process.

COLLECTION OF WORK

Firing, glazing and preparation of your work generally takes approximately 3–4 weeks after your pottery party.

You will be notified by SMS and/or email when your work is ready for collection.

Please ensure that you check your messages, emails and spam/junk folders.

Clay Talk cannot guarantee the ongoing storage or safe keeping of uncollected works, bisqued pieces, items left on student shelves, tools or clay.

Unless you have contacted Clay Talk staff and made alternative collection arrangements, uncollected items may be re-purposed after a reasonable collection period.

EMAIL & SMS NOTIFICATIONS

Clay Talk is not responsible for students failing to read or check SMS messages, emails or spam/junk folders relating to class information or work collection.
