Dates: January 10 and 11 10am-4pm
This is a very special opportunity to learn from one of Australia's leading terracotta earthenware artists. Well respected and very highly regarded both nationally and internationally for her work, Jane is one of Australia's leading advocate for ceramics and her positivity and wonderful personality brings many smiles and fun to be with!
What you will learn
This a 2 day workshop where Jane will demonstrate throwing various forms, some hand building and joining of thrown and hand built components . All her pieces are made with terracotta clay then using slips as decoration and as a base for glazes. The terracotta clay provides a deep red base for the slips which reflect the rich colours of the glazes.
Jane will demonstrate various techniques with slip application and some ideas for decoration.
Participants will have the opportunity to make their own pieces on Saturday afternoon, finish them on Sunday morning and apply slips on Sunday afternoon.
The workshop will be a mix of demonstrations and guidance of individual work.
Jane will also be showing images of ceramics from other ceramists who use similar techniques, particularly in France.
