The Bread Social Bakers will be taking you through the basics of sourdough bread making. We are going to replicate home baking conditions so you can achieve great results without commercial equipment . We will take you through each stage of the process including; mixing, proving, shaping and baking.

By the end of the course you'll be taking home some bread you've baked, some dough you've shaped, some Bread Social starter and as many tips and tricks as we can squeeze into two hours.

Covering the processes of mixing, proving, shaping and baking. We will trouble shoot some of the common issues that arise with bread making at home and talk about some of the science that is happening in the fermentation process. 

This is a hands on course that will give you the opportunity to gain experience with:

Different bread baking methods for home ovens 

Mixing doughs

Kneading techniques

Bread shaping techniques

Wild yeast starter feeding schedules

Bread analysing.


We will have an open discussion about bread making and enjoy some beautifully baked loaves fresh from the oven.

Please bring an apron, water bottle and closed toe shoes. Please also bring a large food container to store and take home your dough.

Appropriate for

While we welcome all enthusiastic bakers, our classes are best suited for adults and children aged 12 and over.


Preparation

What to bring

  • An apron, water bottle and closed shoes. Please also bring a large food container to store and take home your dough.

What to wear

No dress code, but closed-toe shoes are essential! Please bring an apron. We also recommend leaving jewellery at home, especially rings and bracelets, as they can easily get covered in dough. Please note, we don’t have a secure place to store valuables during class.

I was so excited to be going this class & it didn’t disappoint. I came home with a bag of goodies & Sour dough that was made during the class. I baked 5 beautiful loaves over the weekend. They are working on a take home book which will be handy.

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

OR

  • A refund can be requested 2 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
  • A transfer can be requested 2 days before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

1. LIABILITY WAIVER

By participating in any class or event held by The Bread Social, I acknowledge and agree to take full responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage to person or property that may occur during the course of the activity. I release The Bread Social from any liability arising from such incidents.

2. PHOTO & VIDEO RELEASE

I grant The Bread Social unrestricted rights to use any photographs or video footage taken during classes or events at any Bread Social premises. This content may be used in marketing, promotional materials, and social media, without compensation or further consent.

3. VENUE & DATE CHANGES

Sourdough bread classes may occasionally change venue between The Bread Social locations or be discontinued at specific sites. Participants will be notified of any location changes in advance.

4. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

We understand that plans can change. You may cancel or reschedule your booking up to 2 days before the scheduled class for a full refund or transfer.

Please note, any cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time will result in a total loss of the booking - no refunds, credits, or rescheduling can be offered, as materials will have already been prepared and your place held.
