“Just had an amazing, kids-free half day learning how to use a sewing machine! If anyone is looking to do a sewing class, I would highly recommend Usefulbox! From having zero knowledge, I learnt how to cut fabric from scratch and sew baby bloomers and a dress for my daughter — all in just half a day! It was so much fun. Totally addicted to making clothes for my daughter now!”

SMALL GROUP SEWING LESSONS
Learn Together. Sew Together.
If you love the idea of learning alongside others, our small group lessons are where the magic happens.
With just 3–6 students per session, you’ll receive personalised guidance while enjoying the creativity, encouragement and energy that comes from sewing in community.
Group lessons are perfect if you:
• Enjoy learning in a relaxed social environment
• Want structured guidance with flexibility
• Like sharing ideas and inspiration
• Thrive in creative community spaces
You’ll work on your own project while receiving individual support — but you’ll also benefit from seeing others’ techniques, questions and solutions.
It’s collaborative, confidence-building and often more motivating than sewing alone at home.
Many students say they learn just as much from the group dynamic as they do from the teacher.
WHAT’S INCLUDED (Private & Group)
• Expert tuition in a supportive studio environment
• Small class sizes for personalised attention
• Use of studio sewing machines — students sew on the Brother Innov-is A80 or Bernina 335
OPTIONAL:
• Bring your own sewing machine (with power cord, foot pedal and accessories)
If you prefer not to bring your machine, you’re welcome to use one of ours.
NOT SURE WHICH TO CHOOSE?
Private lessons are perfect for intensive, personalised progress.
Group lessons offer structure, support and the joy of creative community.
Either way, you’ll leave more confident than when you arrived.

Your Teacher
KELDA RICHARDS
In 2008 Kelda started teaching sewing in her own studio to teenagers and adults. She knows that there's nothing like the satisfaction of making your own clothing and home furnishings. She will teach you all the shortcuts to save time when sewing to allow you to finish garments to a high standard.
Kelda loves unusual and quirky fabrics. Designing or finding a new pattern and making it her own is always exciting. When she's not sewing, her other passions are baking, pottery and spending time with her family and friends. She loves learning anything creative.
Kelda believes that everyone can sew. You just need the right teacher and to have fun while you do it!
You can find Kelda in the Beginner & Beyond classes, Zips & Buttonhole masterclass along with plenty of other project based classes.
