Pottery Wheel & Wine

Pottery Wheel & Wine

Our incredibly talented potters will spend the afternoon teaching you the art of the pottery wheel. Showing you how to create a vessel, in this fun & creative workshop.

In this pottery workshop, you’ll use the wheel to sculpt and create a ceramic piece, focusing on using your hands to create something that is truly one of a kind. We will show you the techniques required to start creating on the wheel and then you can spend the next few hours practicing your new skill and sculpting a keepsake full of personality.

The wheel is fun for all and this workshop is beginner-friendly, This workshop is a wonderful experience when shared with loved ones.

What this workshop includes:

- All equipment and tools required including clay.

- Firing and glazing for 2 pieces.

- Instructions & guidance from one of Perth’s best Ceramicists.

- Wine on arrival and throughout.

- Grazing board to enjoy during the workshop.

- Bottomless loose leaf teas, coffee, and juice.

What to bring:

Clay is wonderfully messy! So be sure to wear some old clothes and covered shoes. We'll provide you with an apron on the night.

Important info about this workshop:

Following the workshop, your pieces will be bisque fired, clear glazed, and glaze fired before being returned for you to collect and treasure within 6-8 weeks.

If you create more than 2 x items, you can pay a kiln & glazing fee of $10 per item to turn other creations into usable ceramic vessels.

The pottery wheel can be challenging, sometimes on the first go, you might not create something you love. We will do our best to help coach you along the way.  Ceramics can sometimes be unpredictable. Due to this, there are limitations on the size of your items, sadly pieces break during the firing process and we want to ensure you have a beautiful and functional piece. Trust us, we have had to learn from heartbreak! Don't worry though our expert will cover all of this at the start of your workshop.

This workshop is unlike any other and  is not to be missed!

We attended the Pottery Wheel and Wine event. Had a fantastic time! The House of Hobby team were really welcoming and friendly. The instructions throughout the workshop were clear and easy to follow. Staff were on hand to ask any questions throughout, and gave us all lots of encouragement. The space was well set up, and fostered a relaxing atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend House of Hobby for anyone wanting to dabble in a new hobby! 😊

I had the best time at the pottery and wine class. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, the hosts and teacher were great. There was lots of support but plenty of encouragement to do your own thing! I can’t wait to see what my creation looks like. Would definitely recommend, can’t wait to try another class. Thanks House of Hobby team for a great afternoon.

I missed out on Workshop Tickets!

We’d recommend signing up to our mailing list, as tickets are always released there first.

How long do I have to collect my pottery?

Turning your items from clay to a beautiful ceramic, can take at the very most 3 months, we do like to aim for the 6 - 8 week mark. We allow for 3 months after this (6 months in total) for you to collect your pottery items, after 6 months from your workshop date, uncollected items are placed on our orphans table. Where other’s can adopt them for $10, which goes to our partner charity. Collection updates can also be found on our instagram.

We offer discounted tickets for support workers, please get in touch with what workshop you’d like to book into, we do have a limit on the number of support workers in each session.

Our studio is on flat ground and we have lots of room if you require any extra space. We are in an old building and our bathrooms are not fully accessible, there are a few steps (something we are working to rectify).
