PJ Party: Sew Your Own Pyjama Set ✄/✄✄/✄✄✄

You’re invited to a Pyjama Party! 🎉✨

BYO pyjama set pattern, and let’s make it happen together.

Over 10 hours, we’ll guide you through creating your very own set of woven pyjamas, in whatever style you choose. We’ll be right there to help you through the tricky parts, so your PJs make it from “work in progress” to “wear it with pride.”

Some of the cosy, stylish, or quirky pyjamas you might choose to make include:

  • Carolyn Pyajamas by Closet Core Patterns. Button-up top features collar, curved hem, plus three sleeve options. Choose between straight-leg pants or shorts. Both feature elastic waist, pockets and a faux fly. Step up your skills and personalise by adding contrasting piping.
  • McCall's M8263 Men's Pyjamas. Set includes button-up shirt with short or long-sleeves, choose from trousers or shorts. Top features collar, various patch pockets, and short and long sleeves with binding. Bottoms with drawstring casing and side pockets. Step up your skills and personalise by adding contrasting piping.
  • Leif Gender Neutral Pyjama Pattern by Seamwork. Classic woven set with relaxed, ✨gender-neutral✨ fit. Button-up top with straight silhouette and collar, long sleeves with cuffs, plus pockets. Bottoms are mid-rise, straight fit, finished with hem cuffs. In-seam pockets and a faux fly with button detail.
  • Agnes Pyjama Set by Paper Theory. A beginner-friendly option. Shorts or long trousers that sit high on the waist with elastic waistband and feature no side seam (less sewing!). Shirt is very oversized with batwing sleeves, a collar, button-up front and patch pockets.
  • Pipit Loungewear from Common StitchSimple, modern, different to the other options suggested. A boxy top, cropped style with drop shoulders and optional patch pockets. Elastic waist shorts or pants with an easy pull-on fit.

This course is designed to make woven pyjama sets - unfortunately, that means knits, t-shirts, track-suits, and lingerie styles are not suitable.

Course Content

Once you start sewing, we can unpick and fix almost anything. But, if you cut out incorrectly, or choose the wrong size we can't fix that. In the first workshop we focus on:

  • Taking your measurements, selecting your size for the top and bottoms
  • Identifying pattern pieces for your selected view (variation)
  • Laying up the pattern and pinning it correctly
  • Cutting technique, transferring pattern markings
  • Discussing other notions and your plan of attack

Working on your pjs between workshops will allow you to make the most of this course.

In following workshops you will be learning:

  • Tricky techniques! Facings, understitching, stay stitching, clipping corners.
  • Setting in sleeves, creating collars, button plackets or your pattern's special details - maybe piping?
  • Seam options; Using overlockers to finish raw edges, or fancy seams like French?
  • Creating elastic waist casings and inserting elastic or drawstrings.
  • Creating buttonholes and sewing on buttons on the correct sides.

Participants in this course must purchase and print (and assemble if you are printing the A4 size) their own copy of their selected pattern.

We have all the tools you'll need. Each participant is set up with fabric shears, pinking shears, thread snips, unpicker, hand needles, tape measures, pins, tailor's chalks, hem guides, ironing/pressing tools, rulers, stationery... there is no need to lug around your whole sewing kit. We've taken care of it all.

Terms & Conditions

Taking part in a workshop at Thread Den is fun and we love teaching people our craft, but here we have to get serious for a moment:

It is your responsibility to clear your diary for the booking you've made - especially if there are multiple sessions in your course. If you want to finish your project(s), you need to attend all workshops. You'll also need to arrive on time. We can't start again because it just isn't fair to your fellow participants.

Allow us this indulgence for a second, our workshops and courses - are usually sold out weeks in advance. It isn't a quick switch to pop you into another workshop. If we have an appropriate session where you can attend to keep going, we will try to offer you a discounted space. If that isn't possible, you will need to book a private lesson to stay on track (the minimum cost is NM -$144 or M -$119.52).

We also won't follow you up to check that you are coming along to class and/or that you have the right supplies for your class. Almost every workshop will require you to bring along your supplies, for some workshops we sell a supplies kit at an additional cost - but not for all. If you are unsure about what you need, just shoot us an email - [email protected] .  We also want you to learn and love what you make as much as possible, please carefully consider the fabrics we recommend that you use. If you choose a fabric that is suited to a more advanced level you aren't going to enjoy your experience.

We've tried to answer any questions you could have in the workshop description, but again, don't hesitate to email us for any further details or with any queries. We loooove to see that fabric you are thinking of using and sending you off to some of our favourite fabric and habby suppliers.

Thanks for sticking with us and reading through those annoying details.

The details of our refund policy appear during the booking process.

Medical Events

  • If you are required to isolate, with the supply of a medical certificate or COVID-19 testing referral covering the date of your workshop, you will be able to transfer your booking without incurring any penalties.
  • Your safety is our priority, we reserve the right to make decisions if necessary to preserve the safety of all.
  • In the event of a medical emergency, we may have to seek ambulance services on your behalf and at your expense.

Course Cancellations

  • Classes are subject to sufficient enrolment numbers (usually this is 3 participants).
  • We reserve the right to cancel any scheduled course.

This policy can be viewed on our website - https://threadden.com/about/bookings-and-cancellations-policy/
