TEN Network gathering: Connecting with Wurundjeri Country in a Community of Practice Gathering for educators with local knowledge and local places.
This Teacher's Environmental Network (TEN) event is for early years, primary, secondary and tertiary educators in the Cities of Whittlesea, Banyule and Nillumbik to consider innovative leadership that directly connects with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. The interactive gathering will be led by Dr Angela Foley, Merri Creek Management Committee’s non-Indigenous Coordinator of Biodiversity and Waterway Education (Caring for Country). In this role she develops and delivers education and engagement programs across the community in formal, informal and non-formal educative settings to forefront Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. We’ll share our experiences in delivering Indigenous perspectives and strengthen our ethical understandings, confidence and knowledge. We’ll consider how to confidently develop educational responses to intercultural teaching requirements through local seasonality, ethnobotany, geology, and ecology as well as in recognition of annual events such as Science Week and NAIDOC Week.
The workshop will include teacher networking, and for catering purposes please register your interest. Feel free to spread the word through your teacher networks. Please note everyone is welcome (teachers, education support workers, parent volunteers), and it is fine if you turn up late or need to leave early as we know how busy teachers are.
We aim to ensure that people have equal access to our workshops, please give us a call on 9433 3711 to discuss how we can make these sessions inclusive and accessible for you.
