The Beginners Wine Class is a single session covering fundamentals including sight, smell, taste, varietal characteristics, service, cellaring, and food pairing. Classes are limited to 10 participants and feature six Australian wines with a strong food component. The Introduction to Wine Four Week Course runs for four consecutive weeks on Tuesdays (6:30-8:30pm) at $259, covering Champagne & Sparkling Wines, White, Red, and Dessert Wines, plus Ageing and Cellaring. The One-Night Palate Trainer is a two-hour intimate course held once monthly at 6:30pm for $79, helping you understand your own palate and identify wine faults that occur in 1 out of 12 bottles.

  Pricing varies by course type. Single-session courses range from $30 (Twenty Wines for $30) to $199 (Champagne Challenge and Chardonnay Challenge, both including supper). Multi-week courses cost $259 for the four-week Introduction to Wine Course. Specialized challenges and dinners range from $79-$299, with some premium winemaker dinners at $199-$259. Most gift vouchers are available for purchase and can be redeemed toward any date of your choice.

• What is included in the four-week Introduction to Wine Course?

  The Introduction to Wine Four Week Course costs $259 and meets for four consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm in the Cellars at Armadale Cellars. The course covers all facets of wine appreciation with dedicated weeks on Champagne & Sparkling Wines, White Wines, Red Wines, and Dessert Wines plus Ageing and Cellaring. The course is interactive and designed for participants seeking comprehensive wine knowledge.

• Are there specialized wine challenge courses available?

  Yes. Armadale Cellars offers several blind-tasting challenge courses at $159 each, all including supper. The Chardonnay Challenge (France vs. The Rest) features premium Chardonnays in head-to-head tastings. The Shiraz Challenge presents Grange Shiraz against 11 other premium Shiraz and Syrah from around the world, tasted blind in the underground Cellars. The Pinot Noir Challenge includes 12 super-premium Pinot Noirs from Australia, New Zealand, USA, and France. The Champagne Challenge features 12 super-premium Champagnes at $199 and includes supper. Participants vote for their choice of best in show during these events.

• What is the One-Night Palate Trainer course?

  The One-Night Palate Trainer is held once monthly at Armadale Cellars from 6:30-8:45pm for $79. This two-hour intimate course is conducted by experienced presenters from the wine industry and is designed for both novice and connoisseur. The class teaches you to gain a better understanding of your own palate and helps you identify specific wine faults, which occur in 1 out of 12 bottles.

• Do courses offer gift vouchers?

Gift vouchers are available for purchase for most wine courses including the Shiraz Challenge, One-Night Palate Trainer, Chardonnay Challenge, Understanding Burgundy, Introduction to Whisky, Pinot Noir Challenge, Introduction to Wine Four Week Course, and the RIEDEL Sensory Tasting.
