Description

Clay Talk @ Montsalvat is a ceramics facility located in the grounds of Montsalvat – Australia’s oldest continuously active artists’ community. The studio is an addition to Montsalvat’s already rich history as a place where art is made, taught, shown and experienced.

At Clay Talk, we aim to be a creative environment that brings students and practitioners together through education and skills-based programs. Currently we offer classes where you can learn wheel throwing and hand building at all stages of development supplemented by specialist programs and workshops taught by established artists.

28 March 2020 • Discover Wheel Throwing Sat 10am

Such a lovely experience. Really nice, welcoming and accessible teachers in a beautiful space. We were able to progress at our own pace and were fully supported in making things in our own unique ways. I would really recommend your participation :)

26 March 2020 • Intermediate Wheel Throwing Thu 10am

Clay talk is a beautiful space in the grounds of Montsalvat. I have been lucky enough to be taught by Denholm and Yuso and found their instruction and attention to detail demonstrated their being tuned in to what I needed . The studio is fulling set up for wheel or hand building with heaps of space and resources. The glazes offer variety and the firing service is prompt . A fabulous place to pot.

24 March 2020 • Handbuilding with Mary-lou Pittard

I can't recommend joining this class more. I am so grateful to be a part of the wonderful Claytalk community. The studio is a sort of calming sanctuary to me now, it offers a place to put aside any stress of outside life and focus on the clay. Mary Lou is not only a wonderful person, she is also a fantastic instructor who offers lots of hands-on instruction and advice. She creates the course WITH you, something which has allowed me to explore my creativity and get really excited about what I'm making. She is also fantastic at finding something fun to learn regardless of experience level. You will create ceramic creations that you love in this class, and you might just fall hopelessly in love with pottery as I have.
