
2 block double weave on 8 shafts with Liz Calnan
Description
This workshop revises your knowledge of double weave on 4 shafts and then has a series of exercises exploring possibilities of what can be achieved on 8 shafts- changing the structure, which blocks show on the face, colouring them differently, and weaving each block with a different weave.
This class is appropriate for weavers who have woven some weaves on 8 shafts, are able to read a draft and thread their loom. It is an advantage to have already completed some double weave on 4 shafts and have an understanding of weaving double-width, tubes and interchanging the two layers of fabric
There will be a prep Zoom meeting on the 23rd of May by Zoom. Liz will send the details when you have booked.
If you don't have a loom don't worry, as with a Guild membership, you can hire a loom from the Guild.

Entry to parking is from the shared driveway with Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy. Drive to the rear of the house and park in the bays.
What to bring
- 8 shaft loom, threaded with the required threading and ready to weave. Stand if you have one.
- Variety of yarns as specified in the email Liz will send you.
- Ruler, tape, scissors, etc. as specified in the email Liz will send you.

The Guild brings together people who practise the arts of hand weaving, spinning and associated crafts and fosters and encourages the crafts by instruction, discussion and exhibition.

Most courses have requirement lists and a materials fee payable to your tutor in class.
Location of Workshops
Most workshops will be held at the Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild at Brush Farm House, 19 Lawson St, Eastwood. There is parking behind the house. Public transport is by bus accessed from Eastwood or Parramatta stations.
Times
Participants should arrive 30 minutes prior to class commencing. The venue must be cleaned up within 30 minutes of class finishing.

Network Groups: For each course, one member may pay at the member’s rate on confirmation of their financial status by their group and its approval.
Knitters Guild NSW: We have a reciprocal arrangement with the Knitters Guild whereby their members may enroll at members’ prices and vice versa.
