Startup Walkabout will give you a great overview of the key places and people that make up the Melbourne startup scene.
There are just 12 spots available so make sure you book yours now! Note: You will need a Myki card with enough credit for a return zone 1 trip to participate on the day.
Startup Walkabout Melbourne is being held as part of the three-week, Australia-wide Startup Spring festival. Coordinated by StartupAUS, the festival aims to celebrate and promote the tech startup community in Australia to key influencers, politicians, media and the general public.
We will be kicking the day off at NAB's "The Village", the first ever corporate coworking space for NAB customers. Hear why they founded the space and explore the amazing design that allows for intimate workspaces. From there we will walk over to the 160 year old heritage listed venue that is York Butter Factory, where we will hear from the chaps from Adventure Capital and tenant WeTeachMe.
Then we move on to Melbourne's newest coworking space: Queens Collective to check out how the office has come together since launching in the middle of 2014. Not sitting still for long, we will soon depart for Nitro where we find an amazing Melbourne success story, making waves in international markets. Nitro are very generously hosting a Nitro Lunch over Ping Pong for the group where you can get to know the local Nitronauts!
After lunch we will be heading by tram over to Richmond, the suburb quickly becoming the centre for Melbourne startups. First up will visit the up and coming Zed Technologies, fresh from their time in the first batch of graduates from the Telstra Muru-D accelerator in Sydney. You can find out all about their experience in one of the largest and fastest paced accelerators in Australia and what it is like to have Telstra as an investor in their startup.
Then we head over to Stewart St, home to Inspire9 & 99Designs. Inspire9 coworking space has become one of the hubs of the Melbourne startup scene with events hosted almost everyday. Next we go up in the lift to visit the home of 99Designs the leading online design marketplace.
We finish off the day with a drink and chance to socialise with all the walkers and organisers in Richmond.
