What you will learn
- The finer details of achieving the correct grind-particle size.
- Learn how to make an espresso recipe using coffee dose, extraction weight & time.
- Ideal dose for certain coffees & basket size.
What you will get
- You will receive a Certificate of Achievement at the completion of the class.
- Advanced Barista Courses are limited to three participants.
What to bring
- Feel free to bring your favourite milk jug or coffee tamper.
- Pen and paper is recommended.
What to wear
Wear comfy shoes as you will be standing for the majority of this course.

It is recommended you complete our Beginner Barista Course first or have coffee making experience.

ONA Coffee's Head of R&D - Hugh Kelly - is the Australian Barista Champion 2016, 2017 and 2021. Hugh Kelly is also a two time World Barista Championship finalist. ONA Coffee's Director of Coffee - Sam Corra - won the Australian Brewers Cup Championship 2017 & went on to become the World Brewers Cup Runner Up. ONA Melbourne is also home to the most awarded Australian Brewers Cup champion Devin Loong, Australian Barista Champion Matt Lewin and Australian Latte Art Champion Victor Vu.
We source our green beans exclusively from Project Origin, Sasa Sestic's ethical green bean trading company. Sasa & his bean hunters travel the world continuously, engaging in direct trade with coffee farmers in order to provide fair income for them and quality control for the coffee . . . which benefits everyone.
At ONA Coffee we are passionate about coffee. We are dedicated to being specialists it every facet of coffee, from green bean, roasting, barista training and our cafes serving the best coffee to our customers.
Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
You may cancel anytime before class starts and claim a full refund or transfer or credit note.
We recommend the refund upgrade option upon checkout in case you’re not able to attend the class. Learn more about refund upgrade option.
Terms & Conditions
Thank you for booking an ONA Coffee Barista Course or Gift Certificate.
If you find you are not available to attend the course you have booked, you are welcome to transfer to a different time and/ or date, pending availability. The transfer must be done at least 48 hours, prior to the course commencing. We can offer a refund (less booking fee) when more than 48 hours notice is provided & a refund is requested.
If you transfer or cancel 24-48 hours, prior to the course commencing, there will be a $25 transfer or cancellation fee.
If you find you are not available to attend the course you have booked and give us less than 24 hours notice, you no longer have the option to transfer to another course and will lose your full course fee.
All courses and gift certificates must be used within six months after the purchase date.
Please appreciate that ONA Coffee Barista Courses are very popular and booked 4-6 weeks in advance, if you transfer from a course, we need to fill your place. Thank you.
