Description
Whether you're a home barista enthusiast or a budding café gun, having a solid foundation of practical skills and coffee knowledge will help you get the best out of your coffee.
This course is jam packed to give you all the basics you need to start creating delicious coffees at home or in the café, and will give you a holistic view of your coffee, starting from the seed all the way to your cup.
In Level 1 you will learn about:
- The fascinating journey from green bean to cup.
- The necessary equipment for quality brewing.
- An introduction to coffee recipes and taste balance.
- Correct technique for perfect espresso shots.
- Preparing silky milk and how to pour it
We recommend this course as a wonderful starting point for beginners, home baristas, or anyone that wants to improve their fundamentals. No experience is necessary, but even seasoned baristas can learn a lot in this course.
All classes are limited to three participants each with their own machine as per social distancing requirements. These classes used to run with up to 6 participants meaning you will gain a lot of personal one on one time with a trainer!

All ONA Coffee trainers are highly experienced in producing top quality coffee and are running courses designed by Hugh Kelly, Australian Barista Champion 2016, 2017, 2022, by Victor Vu at ONA Coffee Melbourne, Australian Latte Art Champion 2020-2021, 2024.

We source our green beans exclusively from Project Origin, Sasa Sestic's ethical green bean trading company. Sasa & his bean hunters travel the world continuously, engaging in direct trade with coffee farmers in order to provide fair income for them and quality control for the coffee . . . which benefits everyone.

Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
You may cancel anytime before class starts and claim a full refund or transfer or credit note.
We recommend the refund upgrade option upon checkout in case you’re not able to attend the class. Learn more about refund upgrade option.
Terms & Conditions
Thank you for booking an ONA Coffee Barista Course or Gift Certificate.
If you find you are not available to attend the course you have booked, you are welcome to transfer to a different time and/ or date, pending availability. The transfer must be done at least 48 hours, prior to the course commencing. We can offer a refund (less booking fee) when more than 48 hours notice is provided & a refund is requested.
If you transfer or cancel 24-48 hours, prior to the course commencing, there will be a $25 transfer or cancellation fee.
If you find you are not available to attend the course you have booked and give us less than 24 hours notice, you no longer have the option to transfer to another course and will lose your full course fee.
All courses and gift certificates must be used within six months after the purchase date.
Please appreciate that ONA Coffee Barista Courses are very popular and booked 4-6 weeks in advance, if you transfer from a course, we need to fill your place. Thank you.
