Sissys Gourmet Delights

Vendor since 2015

From home-made to market, that's the quick and easy story about Sissys. From a small home kitchen producing gourmet biscuits and chocolates for friends and family, Sylvia Kliska launched her venture in 1994, as 'Sissys Bix', and moved to her current factory shop location in Blackburn (Vic.) in 2000.

The biscuit and chocolate market is littered with large companies who invest more into their packaging than improving the taste-quality of their products. Sissys does the opposite and gives taste buds a run for their money.  By all accounts, the strategy is succeeding. In recent years, Sissys product has been on sale in quality store outlets, sold in bulk to 4-5 star hotels, restaurants, caterers, and is often an addition in top-shelf hampers.

Sissys factory shop also operates as a retail shop-front and has a made-to-order service where clients can select products for their basket, or for ornately-wrapped gifts and hampers, from a wide range ofbiscuits, petit fours and chocolates. Corporate and made-to-order hampers are a specialty.

Then in recent years, chocolate-making classes have become a popular event as a gift-giving idea or something for the chocolate lover to indulge in. Sissys classes range from the beginners 'introductionto chocolate-making', to more advanced and specialised events. Even hens-nights and childrens parties are catered for.

A wonderful and inspirational small class on biscuit-making. A huge variety of biscuits, and lots of useful instructions. Highly recommended.

05 December 2018 • The Ultimate Biscuit Class

This was an enjoyable and productive class. Under Sylvia's supervision, we made batches of various European style gourmet biscuits, and got to take home a sample (1 kg) of them at the end of the class. All materials were provided, along with a comprehensive take home menu booklet. There were only two participants in the class, which meant (a) the instruction given was personalised and appropriate (b) you thoroughly attempted all the hands-on processes involved Sylvia struck a nice balance between expecting a high standard of work, whilst allowing for expected first attempt errors that were bound to be made. This created a good learning environment. I recommend this class, enjoyable in it's own right and an excellent foundation for any further baking attempts at home.

This class is both serious (real, useful information and techniques) and fun (social, creative, interactive - tasty). Sylvia's expertise and knowledge shines. She is clear, direct and no nonsense. Participants get general information, personal feedback and, at the end of the day, a massive box of fresh, self-made product to take home. A special mention to the support team as well. Highly recommended.
