Creative Recycling: Art with a Purpose

Class Overview:

Join us for a fun and imaginative journey into the world of recycled art! In this hands-on class, young artists will discover how to transform everyday recyclable materials into unique works of art. Through a combination of creativity, teamwork, and environmental awareness, children will learn to see the beauty in what might otherwise be thrown away.

What to Expect:

- Inspiration & Discussion: We’ll kick off the class with a lively discussion about recycling and the importance of taking care of our planet. Kids will see examples of amazing art made from recycled materials, sparking their creativity and imagination.

Hands-On Projects: Participants will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of exciting projects, including:

  - Sculptures: Create 3D masterpieces using cardboard, wood, plastic and more.

  - Collages: Design colorful collages using old magazines, newspapers, and fabric scraps.

  - Masks: Craft unique masks using cardboard and fabric, ready for decoration.

Art Creation: Kids will have plenty of time to dive into their chosen projects, using a variety of art supplies to bring their ideas to life. Our instructor will be on hand to provide guidance and encouragement.

Anna Kolusniewski, a seasoned costume and jewelry designer, founded "Aa is for Art" in Melbourne's inner west after a successful career in the fashion industry. She now leads term-based visual arts programs for children and workshops for adults, while also teaching at various institutions throughout Melbourne. 

Anna has collaborated with numerous nonprofit and government-funded organizations to deliver impactful art therapy programs. Recognized as one of Australia’s foremost costume jewelry designers, Anna specializes in theatrical and period styles. Her award-winning work has been featured in a variety of bridal and fashion publications, showcased at Fashion Week, and highlighted in film and theater productions. Additionally, Anna has contributed to many group exhibitions, further establishing her presence in the art community.

She believes everyone has the ability to be creative and with positive encouragement can produce beautiful artwork. She also believes creativity has a calming effect on children and builds confidence through a sense of achievement, she loves inspiring children to push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of to send them to next level.
