About Harley & Händen

Harley was born and raised in Townsville, NQ, and made the solo move down to Brisbane at 17 to pursue her love of graphic design, graduating from Design College Australia in 2014.

Before and throughout her schooling years, Harley was taught embroidery by her Ma at her craft-a-noons. She would often be commissioned to create pencil cases and bags and embellish them by her school friends. In middle and senior school, Harley started to experiment then what she thought was just scrapbooking, cutting and pasting together images and words from Frankie magazines and local papers.

It never crossed her mind that she could make a career out of any of the two disciplines until she discovered a collage community in Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn Collage Collective) after a college project and after being introduced to the wide world of Etsy.

In October 2014 Harley & Händen was formed, making her debut at the Design Collage Australia's Renegade Markets in Fortitude Valley. Since then her work has been seen in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, hung by Primary Arcade, The Brisbane Collective, Brisbane Street Art Festival, Brisbane Collage Club, RAW Brisbane and Paste Modernism, including her first solo show in May 2016.

On the side Harley helps out with local art communities Primary Arcade, the Brisbane Collage Club and The Brisbane Collective.
