I offer after-school or weekend classes, and I specialise in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and mixed media. We always look at artists and art history, with each project, such as local artists, contemporary Australian artists, international artists and the Old Masters.
I come up with a theme and technique which continues for roughly 3-4 weeks until we are happy the project is finished. We look at an artist or movement for inspiration. We mix the artist’s style or ideas with our own ideas to create something new and original. This is how all artists learn and it is how all the Old Great Masters have learnt for centuries. The focus of each weekly class builds on previously learnt skills from prior weeks.
We don’t rush through our art work. We take our time learning the skills and embracing the techniques. I gradually guide the students in a slow step by step process until the kiddos are happy with their work. Then we move onto the next stage, all the while encouraging exploration and experimentation.
I value each kiddo’s ideas, whilst providing the opportunity to have fun, explore new concepts, experiment with a range of quality materials and create original works of art. Encouraging and pushing the kiddos to their full potential by taking their time is essential.
The most favourite part of my job is the look on their faces once they have finished. I love how proud and excited they are to show their parents what they have created and achieved. These classes are designed to enhance each student’s natural abilities and to extend them to see as an artist.

Hello!
My name is Fi.
Ever since I can remember, I have always loved art.
I love admiring it, creating it, teaching it and exhibiting it! I love admiring it on fabrics, on the walls, on ceramics and tiles, book illustrations, stage set designs, street art and on canvas.
I vividly remember standing at an easel, when I was in Kindergarten, painting a massive daisy with everyone standing around admiring it. The feeling of excitement painting this daisy, the reaction of others - and how much joy it gave - was the best feeling!!
I completed my Visual Arts degree and continued studying to complete my Diploma in Education. For 13 years I taught as a Visual Arts teacher. The class sizes were too big, and I felt frustrated that I couldn’t spend more time with each kiddo individually: this is when Art Kids on the Hill was born.
In 2012 I started teaching a couple of kids in my dining room. From there, my business blossomed………we took over the spare room and then we turned my husband’s garage into the studio! Such fun times. Then, as my business grew, it was time to open a studio in the community.
