This 8-week Intermediate Pottery Wheel Course at The Northern Pottery is crafted for those who have completed at least two terms of the beginners course and are confident with centring clay and throwing basic bowls and cylinders. Over the term you’ll explore more complex forms such as lidded vessels, wide plates and coordinated sets. You’ll refine trimming, glazing and studio workflow while working in a supportive, creative environment. Expect lively studio time, hands-on tuition, and the opportunity to grow your craft alongside fellow potters. The emphasis here is on skills development rather than producing lots of pots!
You will learn
- Advanced wheel skills: like lidded forms, wide plates and sets
- Refined trimming and finishing techniques
- How to apply considered glazes and develop consistent form

Appropriate for
Adults who want a fun, beginner friendly pottery wheel experience with no prior skills needed.
What to bring
- Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, and bring a small towel and a water bottle.
- All clay, tools and materials are supplied, though you’re welcome to bring your favourite pottery tools if you prefer using your own.
What to wear
Wear comfy clothing that can get messy, plus an apron if you have one. Closed-in shoes are strongly recommended.

Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A refund can be requested 7 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 3 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
- A credit note can be requested 3 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at The Northern Pottery or organised by The Northern Pottery must agree to these terms and conditions.

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by The Northern Pottery
2.) PHOTO & VIDEO
I agree to give The Northern Pottery unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at The Northern Pottery classes and events or on The Northern Pottery premises. (For use of The Northern Pottery marketing materials).
