Over six weeks, French Wine Essentials will take you beyond the bottle and into the culture, geography, history and traditions that shape French wine.

YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH FRANCE
France is home to almost 400 wine appellations. French Wine Essentials (FWE) introduces you to the most important regions and styles of wine found across the country. Place of origin, grape varieties, wine profile, production and pairing notes are all explored alongside notable producers and local signature cuisine. Appendices covering vine training systems, wine production methods, tasting descriptors and recommended wine lists enhance your working knowledge. Each wine is presented within a regional and cultural context while landmarks and traditional cuisine are highlighted to contextualise the curriculum.
During your 6 weeks, you will cover France's key wine regions-Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, the Loire Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, the Rhone Valley and more!

For those who want formal recognition of their learning, the course includes the opportunity to sit the Wine Scholar Guild assessment and earn the French Wine Essentials certificate upon successful completion.
Not interested in taking an exam? No problem.
You can enjoy the full six-week wine experience simply for the knowledge, tastings and pleasure of understanding French wine better.
And for the those who want to take their studies further, French Wine Essentials provides a pathway into the internationally recognised French Wine Scholar® program.

Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a transfer or credit note.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A transfer can be requested 7 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.
Terms & Conditions
- Strict 7 days cancellation policy – unless otherwise specified within the “Booking Notes” of your event. Wine Scholar Guild courses overwrite the 7 day policy to a strict 30 day policy.
- Gift vouchers for Armadale Cellars'' events purchased through WeTeachMe are only redeemable for courses and events, and cannot be redeemed for purchases in store at Armadale Cellars.
- If you are unable to attend an event or course at/with Armadale Cellars you must inform us at least 7 days prior in writing or via email and we can offer to transfer you to another course or event. No transfers will be offered if cancelling within 1 week of the course or event date. After that, it is your responsibility to fill the spot with a friend or family member, otherwise seat/booking lapses.
- Public transport, taxis or rideshare services are the best way to get to and from our events and courses. We are a 7 minute walk from Armadale train station and the route 6 tram is right outside our front door.
- Parking:
For events at our cellar, we request that all participants park on High Street, where there are no parking restrictions from 6.30pm.
For external events, please check parking prior or contact us if unsure. - Gift certificate/bookings valid within 36 months of purchase. Gift vouchers/bookings are not redeemable for cash or wine, nor refundable.
