Learn to Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Learn to weave on a simple but versatile rigid heddle loom in this hands-on 3-week course.
Introduction to Rigid Heddle Weaving will cover everything you need to know to set up, weave, and finish off a woven project.
No weaving experience is required—rigid heddle weaving is perfect for those looking to start with something simple or who want to focus on creative process and texture over the complexity of a large loom. Course cost includes all materials and use of a loom to take home between classes over the duration, but students are welcome to bring their own loom if they already have one. Please email hwsgvteaching@gmail.com if you already have a loom and plan to bring it to the course.
Starting with a sample to introduce the basics and get comfortable with weaving, students will go on to plan their own project using the skills they have learned, including calculating yarn requirements and sett, planning for shrinkage and sampling to ensure a good outcome
