Throw a Teapot – Pottery Wheel Workshop


A two session hands on pottery workshop where you learn how to throw a teapot on the wheel. You will practise throwing off the hump, making lidded forms, and joining multiple parts together to create a functional teapot.

Details

3 hours x 2 Weeks

You will learn

  • How to create a teapot on the wheel.
  • How the clay moves and responds under your hands.
  • How to assemple multiple parts and complex projects

You will get

  • A wheel thrown teapot and two small cups glazed and fired for you.
  • All materials, tools and wheel use included.

Appropriate for

Potters aged eighteen and above who have completed at least one beginner pottery wheel course and are confident centring and pulling clay


Preparation

What to bring

  • Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, and bring a small towel and a water bottle.
  • All clay, tools and materials are supplied, though you’re welcome to bring your favourite pottery tools if you prefer using your own.
  • No need to purchase anything in advance! Just come ready to get messy and enjoy a creative weekend.

What to wear

Wear comfy clothing that can get messy, plus an apron if you have one. Closed-in shoes are strongly recommended and short nails.

The Throw a Teapot – Pottery Wheel Workshop is run by the team at The Northern Pottery. Our teachers bring a friendly, encouraging style that keeps things relaxed and fun while making sure you get a great result on the wheel. Expect expert guidance, easygoing energy, and plenty of laughs.

The Northern Pottery is my clay-covered corner of Hornsby, built around creativity, community and the simple joy of making. With over 20 years of experience working with clay, I’ve created a space where people of all skill levels can slow down, get their hands dirty and enjoy the rhythm of the process.

From wheel throwing to handbuilding and everything in between, our classes are relaxed, welcoming and always just the right amount of muddy. There’s plenty of tea, good chats and no pressure to be perfect — just come along and make something!

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

OR

  • A refund can be requested 7 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
  • A transfer can be requested 3 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested 3 days before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

Terms & Conditions

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at The Northern Pottery or organised by The Northern Pottery must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by The Northern Pottery

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give The Northern Pottery unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at The Northern Pottery  classes and events or on The Northern Pottery premises. (For use of The Northern Pottery marketing materials).
