Felting Workshop - At the Yarra Valley Wool Show
Participants will make two different types of felted flowers. This workshop is suitable for all even if you have never felted before. Techniques learnt will include basic fundamentals to laying out fibre to make a sturdy and even piece of felt. They will make a piece of flat felt which will be enhanced with silk, then cut and shaped to form an attractive flower. While this is drying we will make contrasting stamens which can be sewn in later. The second flower will be a layered flower which is made using a resist between the two layers of felt.
These basic techniques learnt can then be used when engaging in larger projects.
What to bring:
- An old towel
- Apron (Optional)
- 3 plastic bags
- Sewing kit containing needle, thread and scissors
- Notebook and pen

Your tutors are Sue Hilton and Helen Rossi
Sue Hilton and Helen Rossi Members of both members of the Handweavers and Spinners Guild and the Victorian Feltmakers. Helen and Sue have been involved with spinning wool from their own flock and felting for many years, including felting hats, bags and scarves for personal use and for sale at galleries. Both are still participating in classes themselves to learn new skills.
