Clay and Play – Handbuilding Experience Workshop
Two hours, a lump of clay and the freedom to make whatever you like. Explore handbuilding at your own pace, with guidance from an experienced pottery teacher whenever you need it.
Come and spend two relaxed hours getting creative with clay at The Northern Pottery.
Clay and Play: Handbuilding is an open ended pottery workshop where what you make is completely up to you. You might make a bowl, a vase, a small sculpture, something useful, something decorative, or simply see where the clay takes you.
Unlike our project based workshops, there is no set piece that everyone makes. You’ll be given clay to work with and introduced to the handbuilding techniques and tools available to you. Your teacher will be there throughout the workshop to offer guidance, demonstrate techniques and help you turn your ideas into clay.
No previous pottery experience is needed. The workshop is designed to be relaxed, creative and accessible for beginners, while still giving you plenty of freedom to experiment.
At the end of the session, choose your favourite piece to leave with us for glazing and firing. Once it has made its way through the kilns, it will be ready to collect from the studio. Additional pieces can be fired for a $20 fee each.
