Frequently Asked Questions

  • Material inclusion varies by class type. In jewellery courses, Stage 1 students receive all materials and equipment provided. Stacker Ring workshops include silver in the workshop cost. Sewing Basics courses provide all tools including fabric shears, pinking shears, thread snips, unpicker, hand needles, tape measures, pins, tailor's chalks, hem guides, and ironing tools. Candle-making kits are valued at $50 and sent to students before the live online class. For pottery and ceramics, clay is pre-prepared and provided. Some courses like Stage 2 jewellery require students to pay for silver based on weight used.

  • Course lengths vary significantly. Sewing Basics is a 3-week course with nine hours of hands-on tuition. Jewellery Introduction stages are five-week courses with 3.5-hour classes per week. The Beginner & Beyond Sewing Course offers both 5-week and 10-week options. Pottery wheel throwing courses typically span 8 weeks. Blacksmith Introduction is an intensive 2-day course. Some workshops are single sessions, such as the 3-hour Raku Firing Workshop or the 2.5-hour Wheel Throwing Beginners Taster.

  • Sewing workshops offer a 10% discount that applies to: multiple workshop bookings for one student, bookings between siblings within the same school holiday period, and bookings with friends on the same workshop. The discount code MULTIPLE10 is applied at final checkout. The Beginner & Beyond Sewing Course offers $50 savings when booking the full term. Pottery clay club courses also include sibling and friend discounts.

  • Yes, class sizes are intentionally kept small. Jewellery Taster classes have a maximum of 7 people. The Learn to Make Jewellery course has a maximum of 10 people. Introduction to Knife-making has only 4 people per class to allow personalised supervision. Macrame Wall Hangings classes have strictly limited places to ensure every student receives lots of help and guidance. Small group settings are standard across craft classes to provide individualised attention.

  • Most craft classes welcome absolute beginners with no prior experience. Sewing Basics explicitly states 'no experience needed.' Jewellery courses state 'you do not need to be artistic or creative.' Wheel throwing taster classes are designed for adults new to pottery. Blacksmith Introduction teaches foundational skills in 2 days. However, some advanced courses require prerequisites: pottery studio access is only for current and former term students, and consolidation courses (Stages 4-9 jewellery) build on earlier stage completion.

  • Private sewing lessons are $199 for 3 hours of one-on-one tuition. To organise a private lesson, you email details about what you want to learn or your project details, plus your available days and times. The studio provides all necessary tools including fabric shears, pinking shears, thread snips, unpicker, hand needles, tape measures, pins, tailor's chalks, hem guides, and ironing tools. Weekend private lessons have longer wait times than weekday bookings.
